Not Your Daughter's Jeans

I've never heard of NYDJ before - they sound good.

I buy M&S Romana jeans in the Per Una section. They sit on the waist and I like the slim cut ones but they have different cuts (and lengths). I'm only 5' and not particularly slim, but I don't think they look too bad - and they're comfortable.

I used to sell NYDJ when I worked in fashion. Can I just suggest that you don't use fabric conditioner when you wash them as they will lose their 'stretch' and possibly go a bit baggy if you do!

Inspired by JessM last year I went to John Lewis to try on a pair of these jeans and am happy to report that I looked every bit as bad as in my cheapo M&S jeans - i.e. pretty bad! I have now bought a pair of Next bootcut high waisted jeans (i.e. covering the ladybits) and they are tight but shall we say supportive.
Incidentally, after a winter of comfy stretchy waisted trousers/joggers etc the discipline of a fixed waistband came as a bit of a shock

I have been thinking about buying a pair of NYDJ's but wasn't sure as they are pricey. Having read the comments I feel confident enough now to give them a try.

I have two pairs of NYD jeans, one boot cut and the other straight leg. I do prefer the boot cut, but only because I'm a child of the 70s I think. I am 5'7" tall and I am high waisted which is why I love the fit on the waist. I HATE low slung jeans. I would love to hear what anyone else says about the M&S jeans though. DH would love the idea that I've spent less money...

I have 2 pairs of NYDJ jeans which I bought from John Lewis. I prefer to try jeans on to check for fit and comfort.
My favourite pair are blue boot cut ones, 2 sizes smaller than normal.
They make me feel great and are worth the money as they retain their shape and don't go baggy.

I have bought NYDJs online from Charles Vermont. They are very helpful and talk you through your purchase. I have always had excellent service from them and have had 4 pairs so far.

I bought a pair of NYDJ a couple of years ago. They come up to the waist and fit well but they do make my stomach look quite big, probably because of the zip.

Recently found a pair of M&S jeans which fit for once. Felt lovely and soft until the first wash. Now the cotton fabric is quite rough.

But I suppose you get what you pay for. M & S jeans cost a quarter as much as NYDJ.

I noticed on Amazon that different leg lengths were not an option, but I am a standard 31ish", so assume they will fit. The ones from ebay were 34" bootcut, so I had to shorten them. I have seen them in all lengths and skinny, bootcut, straight, to the ankle and capri as well as in various colours and with different pocket embellishments.
I have probably been a bit hasty, but the latest order is for a smaller size than the first as I am gradually shedding my excess weight, hoping they will soon fit. My bras have become too loose, and I usually pay quite a bit for my favourite Anita ones, so I have bought a few from Matalan for £6 (not bad either!)to wear until I reach my target weight/size.

shysal I was looking at the M&S jeans during the week but they felt very harsh to the touch not at all a nice denim,I think I will stick with my Levi 501s they have stood the test of time I don't know what I will do when they fall apart.I cannot justify paying £150.00 for jeans and there is no way I would be lucky enough to win the bidding on e-bay.Well done to you sal on your purchase they sound fab.

Ana, if we should ever meet, please stand well to the back of a group photo. My leg length is a humble 29". In other words, I'm a short-arsed wee lassie.

I thought NYDJ were great at first and so bought 3 pairs, but I find that the zip at the front is quite bulky and tends to make me look fatter not slimmer!
They do wash and wear well though.

I've looked at NYDJ on line, but as I only like bootcut jeans, there isn't much choice. I couldn't find any reference to leg length either - I buy M&S jeans in long, which is about 32-33".

shysal I did place a bid for a pair of NYDJ but didn't win them. That was about six months ago. I shall keep looking. It's good to get a GN's opinion.
