Boots or shoes?

Somtimes it breaks my heart to think of the boots and shoes I threw out in the days when I could afford to just buy new for the hell of it. Some of them would still be fashionable and comfortable too.

Isn't it funny how you always end up coming back to the old favourites? I can't bear to throw out boots or shoes. Always think they just might come back into fashion one day.

I love my boots,not long bought a pair of lilac boots from LEnd and love them I have had my leather black uggs for a long time and wear them most days,a pair of ankle boots with heel not to high for going out and a pink pair of slouchy soft boots which double as slippers which are covered in sparkly bits.

Boots! Ecco boots, plus a pair of HushPuppies, and some black suede ones for evenings, until it's time for sandals. Crocs in the house.

Mercedes I should think that you can wear <any> sort of shoe or boot, because you are young! So enjoy beautiful shoes.

I am too hot to wear boots, except my Meindls for walking. For outdoors in winter I have Cotton Traders suede slip-ons. For smarter occasions I do have a pair of Clarks wide-fitting heeled ankle boots. They were an odd pair - 5.5 for the left and 5 for the right, perfect for my feet, and I negotiated a discount too. It's mostly sandals for me, ranging from walking-style to prettier strappy ones, but always wide-fitting (to accommodate bunion).

I love boots in the winter - I can wear mine under my trousers or with my slim ones tucked inside. I do have a smart pair with a small heel but I find that if it is cold the soles are thin and my feet get cold from underneath! This winter I got a wonderful pair almost flat with a fleecy lining and easy to get on and off. Now I never buy any without a zip to ease the getting on. Summer time I only wear thong sandals/ flip flops as any other sort of sandal results in my toes being rubbed raw.
As a side point - I have made the discovery this winter that closer fitting clothing - tops and trousers - are MUCH warmer than than normal ones. A couple of pairs of sort of jeggings in nice fabric has given me a cosy winter. On really cold days I wore those footless tight things underneath and they were great too. Most of you probably knew that already so sorry for digressing!!

1 pair of black leather 'chelsea' boots for being smart but only for sitting down in because my insoles don't fit into them. Never wear heels, or indoor slippers. Can't wear flip-flops . Walking trainers and hiking boots. Every day it's a mixture of leather/suede lace-ups which can take my special insoles. Result: Happy Feet

I have a pair of ankle killer heeled boots, love them... not that I get to wear them very often. Must admit the longer you wear flat boots the harder it is to go back to high heels even just for a night out.

I have to wear shoes at work but I usually wear boots (or wellies if there is snow) to and fro.

I've got all types, from 20 year old furry lined ankle boots, hiking boots (I still like my old leather ones although they're much heavier than the relatively newer goretex ones) smartish ankle boots & clumpy boots. What I don't have is high heeled boots.

I mentioned a few christmasses ago that I could do with a pair of slippers and pointed out a lovely shearling lined pair on tinternet, I then waited in hopeful anticipation. Sure enough when christmas day dawned there was a pair of slippers - the ugliest, brightest, neon pink pair of ugg looky likeys! Obviously a christmas eve, that's all I could find pair. However they are so cosy and comfortable that they are never off my feet when I'm at home. They are still ugly though!

Well, I am in the shoes group, boots would not be that convenient for me to deal with my job which needs a lot of movement.

number, my dad had a cousin (male) who only ever wore sandals – bit like the monks of old. And when I say 'ever', I mean ever – even to weddings and such, he wore sandals. This would be forty plus years ago. I expect a lot of people objected, just as people object to men wearing suit jackets without a tie nowadays.

For mere practicality (which is what counts where I live), I wear hiking boot mostly in winter, or Muck Boots, or wellies. I also have some black suede boots if I feel the need to be smarter (rare). Tuffa stable clogs for indoor archery (people want to know where I got them from) or for short outdoor forays.

My sandals will last for thousands of years because it's rarely warm enough to wear them here.

Indoors, crocs or Acorn shearling-lined clogs, with thick loose socks, for the same reasons that jeni states.

Who cares what they look like if your feet are warm and comfy and you are safe - and in any case, they probably look perfectly OK!

I very rarely wear shoes, mostly sandals, but a couple of weeks ago I got my first ever pair of boots, ankle snow boots actually, because, surprisingly, of the snow, I decided that I`m definitely getting too old (or soft) to be going out in the snow in sandals anymore! I`ve always said no to boots because my legs are too fat for them,but these are just ankle boots, and are really quite comfy.

Any kind of boot in the Winter , trainers when I go walking but I can't wait for Summer to be able to go barefoot around the house and garden and flipflops or sandals if I go out.. love sandals the best of all I think. I'm much more comfortable with bare legs and feet.

london; I had that problem [got stuck in a pair of boots I tried on in a shop once and the manager had to 'release me' ]. But now, thankfully, a lot of boots are very wide fitting so I have got a couple of pairs. In general, though, I can only wear trainers because of the 'mutant feet'.

I do hate flip-flops! They make my feet sweat...

Love my 'smart' boots which I wear with skirts; short boots with trousers. I'm having trouble with my feet - I think it's tendonitis - and need the support of good shoes - have a whole wardrobe of Hotter! I also have pink wellies.

I live in boots from September to the end of March, I'm like you Glass I shed them very reluctantly. When the sun comes out its flip flop time

I do like boots, they make me feel all dressed up.
