I bought a pair of a French make years ago in a small boutique- cost about £50 which i thought was ridiculous BUT they made me immedialtely look a stone slimmer & were so light & comfortable & they are still going strong & I have worn them so many times - I mean at least once or twice a week if not more.
If only I had not thrown the box away as I have no idea of the make. I would buy another pair like a shot if I could find them. have tried other cheaper makes but nothing is anything like these.
So if anyone has a clue what they could be I'd love to know!

Thanks everyone - you've saved me a few £££££. And I thought Spanx were supposed to be the miracle shape-wear us less-than-perfect ladies were all waiting for, but obviously not!
Don't think i am particularily large (size 16) but never really lost the rounded tum after the sprogs (many, many years ago) And yes, i do have a healthy diet (incl. the obligatory 5 a day) but with the best will in the world, dont think i'm going to lose it in the next 6 weeks.
Perhaps i should go for a cheaper/less restrictive version (someone suggested Primark ?) and hope for the best.

What are toning tablets, harrigran?

DD thought about wearing control pants under her wedding dress (she is thin as a stick insect) but decided against them in the end as couldn't face a Bridget Jones type scenario on her wedding night!grin
Now what you need is what my mother used to refer to as a "firm foundation" footings anyone? grin

I bought a pair of Spanx for my daughter's wedding a couple of years ago. By the time it came to the reception, I had gone upstairs to my bedroom and removed them!! Very restrictive and I'm not particularly fat - just wobbly. After the wedding, they went into a drawer and have stayed there ever since. My daughter wore a pair under her wedding dress, but she managed to keep hers on! More stamina than me.

I've a Spanx all-in-one. It cost me dear. Tried it on and, although I looked very trim, I felt as though my insides were being gradually condensed to a pulp. Took it off. Wrapped it in tissue. Put it back in it's box. Placed it in the drawer and there it shall remain... hmm.

Sorry- boobs!

Try TKMax. I bought a lovely camisole type top- squashes the boos a bit, but irons out any midriff bulges. Only £9.99.

I've tried the M&S version, and found them more M than S!

They do work to a degree, I was trying the sort of very long line knickers ones, but found that they left a tell tale bulge on my lower thigh! blush

And I couldn't put my hand on my heart and say they were comfortable!

You will end up with a muffin top. I bought a pair and I thought I was going to faint.
When DD got married I pulled my body into shape on toning tables, do they exist now ? If they are still around they really, really work.

Don't go there, you'll pass out!Cover up with a nice jacket smile

Sound really uncomfortable to me - don't do it, life is too short! smile

glassortwo Tue 05-Mar-13 21:53:28

I think they are the most uncomfortable thing going and the spare has to go somewhere grin is it to late to start a healthy eating plan?

gracesmum Tue 05-Mar-13 21:48:06

No, for your daughter's wedding breathing is entirely optional. Is it too late for the diet? I kept meaning to, never got round to it and when I saw the pics I thought , sh*t, should have done the diet. Long live shapewear!

Just do what I do, order a marquee to wear when desperate, you can get them in nice colours now!

Has anyone tried them - are they really worth the money ? Seem pretty expensive to me, but prepared to fork out if they really are better than any other on the market (eg M&S) Need to keep the ole tum in for daughter's wedding, but want to be comfortable, (and able to breathe)
