anybody know a good cure for cellulite?

I have been prone to a bit of cellulite on my thighs for years but I always used lots of body lotion and took time to massage it in after a shower. When I noticed the cellulite getting worse I started dry body brushing before every shower/bath but I looked at myself in changing room mirror today and the cellulite is now so much worse. Anybody got any ideas how to improve the appearance of my dimpled thighs? Think I will have to borrow Nigella's burkini! sad

seasider Dimpled thighs are not ugly. Changing room mirrors are not sympathetic. If you wish to cover up when beside the pool, why not use a sarong? Very flattering. smile

How to sell stuff:
Invent a "problem"
Give it a scientific sounding name
Tell them your product will solve the problem..

The "beauty industry" specialises in this.
BO - armpits
BO - crotch
Superfluous hair (remember it used to be just on the face, then the underarms, then the legs and now the vulva)
Brown spots
Brown skin (needs lightening)
pale skin (needs a tan)
African hair (needs straightening)

etc

I have a pareo (think that's a South Pacific sarong) which conceals the bits I'd rather not expose - ie most of me.

anno Let's be happy to be the way nature intended...less costly, for a start. smile

I find when I've had a glass of two of good red wine, the whole world looks more beautiful, including myself.

I agree with JessM on this one. I have no idea if I have cellulite or not - and I'm pretty sure my husband doesn't know if I have either! grin

I think it was a french (beauty industry) invention, cellulite.

I have cellulite, which doesn't bother me too much, it's all the surplus, saggy skin it undulates it's way around which bothers me.

And I object to the clothing industries insistence on only dressing the young and smooth. I can never find enough floaty cover up tops.

Suspect only cure for cellulite would be a sex change grin The important thing is not to wear flesh coloured leggings because they will magnify it in a horrific way.

Leggings?!

Deedaa Thu 25-Apr-13 21:11:54

Yes leggings! Saw a horrendous example at an outdoor concert. The lady in front of me had climbed on her chair to see better, she was wearing pale beige leggings and every lump and dimple was highlighted and hideous. Her legs looked fine from the front so I expect she thought she looked lovely.

Black or grey leggings cover a multitude of sins. Tunic length dress over the top.

Depends how big the sins are Jess.

Is n' t cellulite just stored fat and the only who to get rid of it is to slim down. sad

JessM Fri 26-Apr-13 12:18:52

Didn't say ALL sins, just a multitude grin. I think you are right, it is just subcutaneous fat and the only real cure is to get rid of the fat. No way rubbing in a cream or swigging a herbal potion or something is going to work is there.

There were photos in the papers of Jerry Hall showing signs of cellulite on her thighs - she's certainly not overweight!

Loosing the fat still leaves surplus skin behind. For me it's a choice between smooth and really fat, bobbly cellulite fat or no fat and shrivelled wrinkles! At present I'm in the middle state - hence the need for long sleeves and wide leg trousers. Hadn't considered leggings before, perhaps I'll try some.

Seasider cellulite doesn't really exist - it's just dimply fat!

As for body-brushing, all that does is slough off dead skin cells.

In my opinion, body oils give the skin a nice look and feel .... if that doesn't work, it's back to good old leggings! smile
