Eyebrows

I just use a light brown powder eye shadow, applied with feathery strokes to my sparse brows. I think this gives a natural look. I did buy some stencils, which give a more defined shape but can't be bothered to use them.
I think the heavy painted brows seen on TV these days are very false looking and the two are not always symetrical, which I find very distracting!

I use an eyebrow powder much lighter than my 'natural' dark brown to thicken my half dozen eyebrow hairs! That and a fringe (of sorts)plus glasses does the trick for me. My DD has her eyebrows threaded regularly.. she is very dark haired and olive skinned. She does not tolerate pain well, e.g. I cut her hair short as a child as I could not bear the fuss she made when brushing it!

My eyebrows have almost gone. I have acquired a fringe lately so you can't see them fortunately.

Has anyone here any experience of brow threading? My GD has it done frequently and her stepmother - my DiL - has also take to it. I'm thinking about it.

I have very few hairs on brow line- I use Bare Minerals eyebrow powder in a colour lighter than my hair colour- like their makeup it just stays on all day even in hot weather & I have had the same pot for over 3 years now & it is still half full.
I see there is a new eyebrow wand on sale- I think it was Maybelline It would be interesting to see how it works if anyone has tried it. BM is not totally water proof & comes off when swimming.

Mine are a bit sparse on the outside and going white too. However, I have a small solar keratosis on the left one and am going to have it frozen, to prevent its developing into something nastier, so I can't do much about my brows at the moment.

Mine are white and almost invisible. They stay that way. After the op. a few have struggled back, but they make no difference to anything. smile

Ok Jess This has to be a photo opportunity! Post the new you please! grin wink

Dyed. New red lipstick. mascara and eyeliner. Enough of all this slouching around in layers of winter sports clothes, and then being a scruffy Nana.

My eyebrows have never really recovered after disappearing with chemotherapy, and are about sparse with some grey hairs appearing. Sometime ago, I met a friend who was in chemo, and she had had semi permanent tattooed eyebrows. They looked wonderful. Am still trying (intermittently) to find someone to do mine...

Ana Thu 16-May-13 18:32:08

I'd dye mine if I could find a light enough dye - they only seem to come in black or dark brown...

dustyangel Thu 16-May-13 18:31:00

Dye mine too, but I think everyweek and I'd look like Groucho Marks.

Enviousamerican Thu 16-May-13 18:27:01

Mine seem to be hanging in there. No complaints.

JessM Thu 16-May-13 18:16:31

Fed up with stabbing away with pencils. Just bought some dye, inspired by coming back from OZ feeling like a very scruffy Nana. My standards lapse when I am in full-on Nana role!
Grey pencil is an option.

Faye Thu 16-May-13 18:07:04

I dye my own every week.

kittylester Thu 16-May-13 17:52:20

Specs and fringe for me! grin

Granny23 Thu 16-May-13 17:47:37

I solve the 'problem' by keeping my fringe long enough to cover them. smile

kittylester Thu 16-May-13 17:39:50

Er, what are eyebrows? confused

janerowena Thu 16-May-13 17:36:10

A friend of mine has hers dyed. She says it is a shock at first, but she soon got used to it. Another has hers tattooed. She has to have hers done every three years because it fades. I have always had very light eyebrows, and use a greyish brown pencil that even I can barely notice but it looks very natural. Occasionally I have used brown waterproof mascara in the evenings.

Ella46 Thu 16-May-13 17:28:02

My friend has just had hers tattooed as she is going to have chemo soon for the second time, and she hated losing her eyebrows.
They are really quite dark, but I think she looks great. However she has quite an olive complexion, so I suppose it depends on what you're used to.

It's quite expensive too.

Eyebrow powder is best in a light shade. I have an Elizabeth Arden one and it's lasted me years.

Ana Thu 16-May-13 17:15:10

I use MAC eyebrow gel on mine - I think there are three different colours.
I think the trick with eyebrow pencils is to go a shade lighter than you think is right - they always seem to look darker on the skin - and apply with feathery strokes.

Mishap Thu 16-May-13 17:13:26

Mine are definitely not sparse - rampant would be a better description!

tanith Thu 16-May-13 17:12:34

You need a very light touch with the eyebrow pencil and follow the line of the sparse hair unless you look really closely its not really noticeable.. I do mine like this and I know my daughters would say something if it looked odd.

mrsmopp Thu 16-May-13 17:06:05

The lovely eyebrows of my youth have long gone - just a few wispy hairs left. Eyebrow pencil looks awful and I can't get the two eyebrows to match so it looks really odd. Has anyone had eyebrows tattooed on? I would be worried that I might not like how they look and it would then be too late. Are there any other alternatives?
