Fenwicks had plenty of lace coats tops and dresses all over the place but I don't know if fenwicks are anywhere other than N'castle York or Bond street. Jaeger had a sale on.

I haven't read all the posts/answers but just quickly saw your question in the middle of cooking dinner - strangely enough I bought a gold/tan lace dress at the weekend - from next sale! It's v classic shift with short sleeves - have a look online they might have them there - I bought from an outlet place- -you might want something a bit more special though - good luck and congratulations btw!

Some fabulous things here smile

willsandco if you like the Chesca range you can do worse than go to John Lewis, I know the Leicester one has a Chesca concession so would imaging the Notts one does too.

I am within decent range of Nottingham and I understand there are some suitable bridal shops. However, I have been noting the posts above and I do really like the Chesca range - very much my style! We are having a
church wedding and reception for just a small gathering of close family and friends so I dont want to make it too formal. Thanks to you all for your best wishes - much appreciated!

willsandco congratulations from me too wine - if you want cream and gold, why not try one of the many bridal shops? They don't restrict themselves to strapless, sleeveless gowns and you would probably be able to find something lovely in a mid-length with sleeves.
In my experience of 2 DDs weddings, the women in these shops are very experienced and will give good advice about what suits you and what adaptations can be made.
Good luck!

Reddevil3 - Oh yes please. If you send me a message and I will send you my email address.

wiilandco I have a beautiful cream (off white) bridal outfit which i wore 3 years ago. It is size 18 altered to 16, but the fabric is still there.
Full length skirt, camisole top and lovely beaded long sleeved bolero.
Cost me £850. Has been in wardrobe ever since. Would you like me to send you a pic?

I would also suggest Jacques Vert - their fitting is usualy flattering and sizes, generous. Certainly not cheap, but keep an eye on the sales (Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser) or on line. You could also have a look at their 'Just Last Season' site. Also agree that a matching bolero or jacket would compliment your outifit and be useful if next year's spring is as chilly as this one has been! Good luck and best wishes.

Gray and Osbourne and Chesca - my thoughts entirely. In fact I think I saw a Chesca dress in gold lace at John Lewis some weeks ago.
Ooh! Shysal - you minxgrin - not so shy after all!!!

willsandco....check John Lewis web site for ideas...even if something is no longer in stock it gives you ideas of who makes what...you can then go direct to that website.

Or you could try Chesca - they have lots of lace stuff. smile

Next have a large number of lacy garments at the moment and their whole range goes up to at least a size 20. I went in this morning and bought a red lace top and camisole. The short sleeves were a good length to hide my bingo wings.

HappyNanna Sat 01-Jun-13 09:20:11

Congratulations! Have you thought of Jacques Vert or Artigiano or Debenham's Debut range?

Lilygran Sat 01-Jun-13 08:36:45

Congratulations! The idea for the dress sounds lovely and I hope you find what you are looking for. Have you tried Box 2? They sell online. The only connection I have with them is that I'm an occasional customer, btw!

Stansgran Sat 01-Jun-13 08:32:32

Have you looked at Gray & Osbourne?

shysal Sat 01-Jun-13 07:55:36

I know someone who bought a cream dress with bolero, and got a needlewoman to add some gold lacy embroidery, which was very effective. For a spring wedding a long sleeved jacket might be more appropriate. I have noticed that lace effect clothing is very popular this year, so you should be able to find something off the peg.
I look forward to hearing all about the wedding when the time comes, congratulations! flowers

I am useless at fashion but just spotted this thread and wanted to offer my congratulations as well. I am sure you will find the perfect outfit.

glammanana Sat 01-Jun-13 07:39:23

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding how exciting, even though I have now lost quite a lot of weight for the up and coming wedding of my DS2 in September I can say that whilst looking on line for idea's the Frank Usher line called Dusk seemed to have a lovely choice of dresses which may be suitable for you,he does cut the clothes he design's very well and they fall beautifully, well worth a look on e-bay for idea's.
I went into Debenhams and tried on all the differant designers to get the correct fit as some differ from others on their size guides,it makes for a nice day out window shopping.

Sorry here is the link again

Congratulations willsandco I would probably go for a maxi in [http://www.nenofashion.com/family-gathering-with-plus-size-formal-maxi-dresses.html this style]. I wouldn't have the dress as low and maybe not so full. You might have to find a good dressmaker. Good luck.

Granny23 Sat 01-Jun-13 03:10:01

Congratulations on the forthcoming wedding! I think you will have a hard time finding a dress with sleeves. Would you consider a bolero, shrug or Jacket? Lovely cream lace dress @ Damsel in a Dress but it is sleeveless.

willsandco Sat 01-Jun-13 00:11:52

Help please! Getting married in Spring 2014 but I ain't the slim gal I was for the first one in 1971 (Size 18 now!) I really would like a cream or a gold lace mid length dress, or mid length lace skirt and top and I must have sleeves. Any ideas who stocks similar items or should I go and talk to a local dressmaker.
