I'm thinking of having a spray tan but have quite a lot of blemishes on my legs -age spot type things. Wonder if anyone knows how these would react.

I've never understood why sunbeds have never been banned sad.

I think if you want to have nice colour it is better to use spray on tans , rather than bake in the sun .

Even when I go to Mauritius I do not bake myself , just pace it nicely .

Well, yes, but don't fry yourself in the sun either! confused

Funny old world where we want to be brown and some people in India and Africa favour lighter children and want to have paler skin. There's just no pleasing us!

As long as you keep clear of sunbeds, then no harm done!

Thanks treebee

Atqui, sorry for my tardy reply. It's Perfect Legs Skin Miracle that Mum uses. I hope it works as well for you as it does for her.

There you go Atqui nothing better than natural beauty, saying that I have just booked for my all over spray tan for the wedding,I'm having it done on the Wednesday (the big day is Friday 20th Sept.) I don't want that "just baked effect" so having a couple of days before.

Shall store up all these lovely ideas and advice- now my legs are brown from the heat wave!!!!

Bought some of each today to try

I find a spray tan is better than a cream , seems to go on more evenly, and not streak.

I spray the Sally Hansen leg cover no more than a couple of inches away so the spray doesn't go everywhere. I think it's always good to moisturise first as it helps the stuff spread more smoothly. Since I usually stick my foot up on the bath to spray I always pop a towel underneath to catch spray from any poor aim!

Isn't it nice to be even having this conversation? I wouldn't go bare legged if we weren't having this great weather.

I tried a spray tan at the hairdressers last year but found it came off on my clothes.

It looked alright but I wouldn't have one again.

As anyone else had this happen to them.

Atqui Sat 06-Jul-13 21:49:58

Treebee, does she use perfect legs skin miracle or perfect legs gradual tan?

Atqui Sat 06-Jul-13 21:46:52

Thanks for all your advice. I've never heard of This Works before and have been looking it up. It sounds great.

Treebee Fri 05-Jul-13 22:29:53

My Mum has blemishes on her legs and found that self tans made the marks stand out.
She now uses This Works Perfect Legs and her legs look great.
Btw, I use Piz Buin shimmering tan cream all summer. It's a beautiful colour and doesn't smell. I'm fortunate enough not to have blemishes yet though.

annodomini Fri 05-Jul-13 11:54:39

I don't think I'd trust myself with a spray tan. I have bought some Olay moisturiser with self-tan. I always look pale.

Atqui Fri 05-Jul-13 11:40:34

Tell me about it,!

glammanana Fri 05-Jul-13 09:29:34

On a lighter note if you stand in the rain long enough you may go a delicate shade of rust grin
I have just booked a spray tan for the week before DSs wedding in Sept,it gives me plenty of time to correct any "excess colour" before the big day, only got to book nails and hair now and all done.(its been a long year with these wedding plans) smile

Ariadne Fri 05-Jul-13 09:27:39

I did try the leg spray in the shower, the spent days scrubbing the tiles...

Atqui Fri 05-Jul-13 09:24:20

Perhaps if the weather forecast is correct I can get a natural tan in the garden, but so far here in Devon it's a cloudy day.

I tried something called "Air Stockings" once - and only once! Sprayed it on before work in the shower (no, not when it was running) and was then late for work as I had to clean it down - what a mess!
I have one or two age spots on my face, and found when I used my usual Clarins facial tanning cream, the spots looked much worse as the colour seemed to "stick" to them. I plan to try again using Vaseline over the spots as a barrier.
I do use leg make-up made by L'Oreal or Number 7, very nice cover and doesn't matter if you haven't time to exfoliate beforehand. Otherwise I also find one of those body lotions with mild tanning effect take the glare away. sunshine

Alternatively, Ariadne, stand in the bath.

glammanana Wed 03-Jul-13 23:15:34

Ariadne have you tried standing in the garden ?? grin not joking really as my neighbour did that hmm

Deedaa Wed 03-Jul-13 23:12:12

I've been using an instant tan cream that came free with a magazine. It's been quite good and non patchy so far. I just use it on my legs for the odd times I wear a skirt.
