Mutton dressed as lamb ??
I have just painted mine and I love them. "What do you think?" I asked DH
"Hmmmm" was the reply

I won't be paying attention grin

If you love them who care's what he thinks grin I do love all these new colours myself over the past month's I have had silver/blue sequined polish my DD has all the really bright colours such as bright yellow and green, nina you have to keep up with the trends according to my DGD.

Nina I had my fingers and toes painted turquoise for my holiday in Greece in May.
I thought they went well with the sea colour grin
MrA was not terribly impressed hmm

I got a freebie in a magazine last week which involves tiny gold 'pearls' which, I think, are supposed to be applied over the creamy coloured polish. Haven't quite worked up the energy to do it yet.........! At the mo my toenails are bright red but turquoise sounds a good way to go grin

The phrase "mutton dressed as lamb" should be struck out of the English language.

Stay young and beautiful, I say. grin

This summer on holiday my toenails will be mostly...

Pale gold. OH asked if I had a toenail infection the first time I wore it. He too will be ignored. I love the idea of turquoise with brown feet.

Turquiose sounds very fetching !!smile

Deedaa Tue 02-Jul-13 17:41:03

Gally I haven't been able to work the pearls out at all! But I really like the gold polish they gave away the month before. Currently my toenails are a very shiny deep red. Last year my daughter won a pedicure and had black toenails with silver spots. I was SO jealous!

I had shiny cornflower blue gel nail polish on hands n feet last month. Still going strong. Why not?

I almost always have purple nails and my grandchildren love them. My daughter says I look creepy without painted nails. I always do my toes too, even in winter.

Aka Tue 02-Jul-13 22:38:12

My toe nails are currently blue with navy spots on them. Last week they were turquoise. Go for it I say grin

Aka Tue 02-Jul-13 22:39:02

PS there was me thinking you were male humbert???

Ana Tue 02-Jul-13 22:42:41

And what's wrong with a man painting his nails purple, Aka? wink

Backagain Tue 02-Jul-13 22:44:05

Who said he wasn't aka?

Sel Tue 02-Jul-13 22:51:27

Oooh Aka I'm thinking you're very limber or you have pedicures grin I struggle to paint my toenails but, if push came to shove, I could. However, I could not, ever, do spots Hence, I have pedicures.

I think I must be lacking some gene -I never could be bothered with nail varnish even as a teenager - it seemed to involve a lot of work, chipping, re-painting, and expense. My sister, who is 76, wears bright red fake nails which are always coming off. She started wearing them because her nails were discoloured and ridged because of her health problems, and the cement has done so much damage she has to keep on with them.

Jingle - why do we have to stay young and beautiful? I just want to stay healthy!

Nonu Wed 03-Jul-13 10:58:00

I have just finished painting my nails a gorgeous "day-glo" orange they look quite stunning, set off my tan very nicely .

I just love having a pedicure - have it done every month in the summer. My DGS is fascinated by my bright pink toe nails. As it was cold yesterday I had on some tights "socks" (I call them pop socks, not sure if that is the correct term anymore?) - he wanted me to take them off so he could have a proper look at my toes!

Deedaa Wed 03-Jul-13 23:07:34

If you want to stay young and beautiful don't you need to have been beautiful in the first place? I'm just happy if people don't point at me in the street, or turn their children's faces to the wall. grin

GadaboutGran Thu 04-Jul-13 10:42:40

I know a male who paints his toenails all different colours - he's nearly 3 & had fun with the felt tips

Tegan Thu 04-Jul-13 11:26:25

My hands and feet are so grotesque these days that I don't like to draw attention to them. When we used to have holidays in Crete I always painted my toenails dark blue as a sort of homage to the Ancient Minoans; I'll probably do the same again if I ever go back there and hope no one notices them. I'm not sure about turquoise; if I was going for a colour it would be dark blue or black.

Tegan Thu 04-Jul-13 11:29:18

..one of my earliest memories is of visiting a friend who had moved into a new flat; we looked in her sisters room and she had some white pearl nail varnish on her dressing table. To me it was the height of grownupness and I can still be back in that moment now.

Deedaa grin grin

I got complimented on my turquoise nails today,by a lady about my age. Never had that before.
They're staying smile
