Hair darkening, not greying!

I suppose it could be medication, glammanana, or something in the water. We live in different parts of the country so our water probably comes from different sources.

When we were younger we were all outside a lot so I think I can rule out some of us being more in the sun then.

Janerowena - I would like some curls too, but my hair has never shown any tendency to be anything other than determinedly straight. I can only live in hope! I know lots of people who have curly hair always say "oh, it's a nuisance, you would'nt like it" but i would like the chance to find out myself. confused

Well, if you think it's nothing to worry about I shall do that. I suppose people will assume I have stopped lightening my hair! Or perhaps I should start doing that!

Thanks

My hair is the same, but it darkened at an earlier age, probably late 40s. It also became much curlier. I started out with my father's wavy blonde hair, now I have fairly dark very curly hair with lighter straighter hair just on the top, noticeably so. The hairdresser thinks it's like having two sets of hair on one head. The blonde on top is starting to go grey now (I'm in my late 50s) but there are very few grey hairs in the dark parts. I assumed it was hormonal.

Versavisa It could be a few things maybe your diet or medications and the other is the minerals in the water in your area or maybe when you where younger you where more of the outdoor type and your hair was subject to sunlight (hense keeping the blonde tone) more than your sisters, your hair pigmentation could be stronger than your sisters but all these are just maybe's and nothing to worry about.

How mysterious! I've never heard of this before.

I recently met up with my sisters, all younger than me, and I'm puzzled as to why my hair is going darker not greyer.

I'm in my mid sixties, originally had white blonde hair that aged to more of a very light brown by the time I was in my thirties. Now I have a little grey hair at the sides but the rest is much darker.

My sisters' hair followed a similar pattern but they started turning grey in their fifties I would say.

Why is mine different, is it common for hair to darken at this age, and will it eventually go grey?
