Legs!

Ever since I was pregnant with DD2 30 years ago I have had horrible broken capillary veins all over my legs and am wondering whether to do anything about them before old age completely takes over.
Has anyone had their legs lasered or tried any miracle cream to help with this problem?

Isn't it the Bantu who measure a man's wealth by the protuberance of his wives' buttocks?

annodomini Thu 12-Dec-13 11:32:52

A very different standard of female pulchritude, Mice. When 'our girls' did tribal dances, they wrapped themselves in bedspreads with pillows underneath to give themselves bigger backsides. My mixed race GD says it's her African ancestry that has given her a big bum. Might be true - she is quite small 'up top'.

Or, to put it another way, if it is peculiar on men then in my view it's peculiar on women too. It's only body painting when all's said and done.

thatbags Thu 12-Dec-13 11:28:40

Absolutely, jess. Why ever not?

Really. Not kidding. I do think it sexist to think that make-up on men (or nicely decorated nails, and things of that ilk) is somehow peculiar.

Thank you for that Jane. It explains a lot. In fact when I was in Africa my students once took me aside and offered to show me how to make my bum look bigger as they said I would never find a husband looking as I did.

Nonu, I've tried Googling, but I suspect it's too upmarket to appear there.

MiceElf re bums looking big.
My understanding is that a big bum is not desirable when it is viewed laterally, ie from behind, so that those of us who were blessed with wide childbearing hips are sadly predisposed to have a bum that looks big in anything.
But it is a desirable feature if your bum looks big antero-posteriorly, ie viewed from the side, and the website to which Grannylin posted the link even going so far as to imply that if you haven't got a big bum antero-posteriorly, you should avoid wearing jeans.
Hope that helps.

perhaps to find out where to get this "Rose Mist Blush" , google it ?

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 10:52:32

PENST & JESS Laugh & tchwink
I don"t sink in the sand as I only wear them in the evening !!!

annodomini Thu 12-Dec-13 10:14:03

I tried to put on a pair of tights last week and realised that they were 'body control' tights I had ill-advisedly bought last year. I swear they are armour-plated - almost impossible to squeeze into and impossible to keep up, as they were slippery. And if I had bought a bigger size they wouldn't have controlled anything. I gave up and wore trousers.

JessM Thu 12-Dec-13 08:28:15

Or maybe nicely decorated nails bags wink

MiceElf Thu 12-Dec-13 08:13:49

I always thought shape wear was the modern word for corsets. But I'm confused. First we have 'Does my bum look big in this?' and then garments to make you bum look bigger.

And anyway, I thought this thread was about thread veins. And nobody had come up with answer to the problem of getting the Rose Blush Mist. There must be someone out there who knows.

thatbags Thu 12-Dec-13 08:10:53

jess, why not make-up for men? Let's not be sexist. wink

JessM Thu 12-Dec-13 08:05:11

respect nonu 4" heels? Don't you sink into the sand?

And no tegan, not cod pieces you little tinker - more like "pantyhose and elasticated vests" to translate "shape wear" into gran speak. grin

Penstemmon Thu 12-Dec-13 07:27:05

Is the ground lower in Mauritius nonu or are people taller that u only wear 4" heels there?tchwink

Nonu Wed 11-Dec-13 23:17:05

I don"t I am afraid . Glad to say it is not something I need . my legs are in good shape . hence the 4inch heels when I am in Mauritius

Galen Wed 11-Dec-13 23:10:49

So nonu I gather you visit the US of A, so do you know where we can get this miraculous thread vein stuff?

Nonu Wed 11-Dec-13 22:58:20

tchwink tchwink

Ana Wed 11-Dec-13 22:58:15

Reshaping it, apparently, absent!

Soutra Wed 11-Dec-13 22:58:04

And what on earth does "bootilicious" actually mean?

absent Wed 11-Dec-13 22:43:08

So why is our duty your bottom? Piles ointment?

Soutra Wed 11-Dec-13 22:37:57

Oh hadn't thought of that.blush I find the American use of the word "booty" for bottom slightly strange and rather childish - like "botty".
Are American products as carefully tested as UK products? I sometimes wonder about animal testing and if the mighty dollar is the prime factor. Does anybody know whether organic products or Beauty Without Cruelty are as popular as in this country?

Ana Wed 11-Dec-13 22:32:45

Perhaps it's an American company?

Soutra Wed 11-Dec-13 22:26:53

I don;t get that rhyming slogan confused
Shouldn't it be
"Our duty is your beauty" confused ??

Galen Wed 11-Dec-13 22:21:37
