Legs!

Ever since I was pregnant with DD2 30 years ago I have had horrible broken capillary veins all over my legs and am wondering whether to do anything about them before old age completely takes over.
Has anyone had their legs lasered or tried any miracle cream to help with this problem?

Must admit I wear shorts a lot of the time in the Summer and on holidays... I guess I'm lucky no thread or varicose veins, but legs look so much better with a bit of a tan and it only takes a few days of walking in shorts to get some colour back.
I certainly think tights with shorts look rediculous and have told two of my granddaughters precisely that , not so bad if they are opaque black leggings with denims but certainly not for me... I'll stick to my own linen ones.

I read the link on here last year re fake tan for legs. Bought the product recommended, ThisWorks Perfect Legs tanning cream and was impressed with the result. The company is called This Works.

I know some Gnetters are regular visitors to the USA plus we have envious - any suggestions?

Go Galen - you're wearing your trademark pearls and shorts are you? No? Can't quite see. But shorts not tartan. Phew. grin
Some posties wear Bermuda shorts and look good in them.
Shorts are functional. As a fashion item in which the wearer seeks to sit a stylish figure, then fashion disasters litter the territory like quicksands. Even a 12 year old friend, with very long legs, was able to spot that the ones in River Island that were frayed at the edges and cut high so as to show the bottom of your bottom were a no-go area. Wearing them with tights would not help.
But if we are worried about exposing our legs in shorts - either fashionable or functional - in the sun of 2014, then maybe we should be seeking out some of that rose mist blush to enhance the effect. Perfect xmas present?

Just had a look Galen . I would described yours as smart Bermudas. The golf shorts I am referring to are the dreamed up 'tartan' patterned get ups.
Like your photo.

Galen Thu 12-Dec-13 23:27:13

Were sold as golf shorts. If you look at my profile I'm wearing them

Agus Thu 12-Dec-13 23:20:59

Galen I am sure what you wear on your cruises are in fact smart Bermuda shorts! definitely not golf shorts.

A close friend of mine who is an excellent golfer offered to take me to her golf club for a few lessons. My only condition was, I won't be wearing the clothes!

Soutra we often go to The Dunvegan in St. Andrews, a very popular golf orientated hotel. I do wonder sometimes if the hotel forgot to furnish the rooms with mirrors grin

Though actually darling, I prefer t shirts with shorts, they're warmer and not so revealing!

Galen Thu 12-Dec-13 22:57:41

Pearls are de rigeure(?sp)

Soutra Thu 12-Dec-13 22:53:30

No offence meant Galen as long as you are wearing your pearls I am sure your taste will be impeccable And I cannot believe you would be seen dead in a silly hat. tchconfused ??Some golfers and usually from the other side of what they refer to as "the pond" are not so felicitous in thier choice of attire. That Scandinavian woman (Fanny somebody?)looked pretty cool mind you.

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 22:47:59

can assure you I would if I could !!

Penstemmon Thu 12-Dec-13 22:45:13

Shorts and heels nonu?? I think we need a photo!

Galen Thu 12-Dec-13 22:27:17

I wear those on cruises!
Are you saying I shouldn't? I also wear them for archery when warm. Hate trousers, skirts are not practical as I shoot sitting down. Shorts are ideal.

Soutra Thu 12-Dec-13 22:22:15

OMG golf fashion!!!!!! Now to offend golfers everywhere (except those brought up on links courses in Scotland )
Those pastel argyll sweaters, pastel trousers or shorts, silly hats - you have to laugh.tchsmile

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 21:54:22

I do believe shorts worn on the knee ,i.e. American golfers can look smart.

Are my varicose veins just grown up thread veins ?!

I've had them since I was 13 and since they look like a relief map of England I suppose they could come in useful if I ever forget a road map.

I do envy people who 'only' have thread veins.

rosesarered Thu 12-Dec-13 21:43:14

Hee-hee, NONU, maybe my GP was being kind to me! grin

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 21:32:14

Well in my case your GP is wrong.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones , glad to say !!
tchsmile

rosesarered Thu 12-Dec-13 21:28:05

Most older women [unless very thin] seem to have thread veins on legs [says my GP] I wear trousers or longish skirts with boots in Winter [so no probs there] and cotton jeans or long Summer skirts. I have never worn shorts since I was about 12, I was slim then, but hated all the acreage of legs on show.Older women look awful in shorts whatever figure they have, as do older men. You can look attractive in a floaty Summer skirt and sandals and its a more forgiving look.Don't worry about the thread veins.

JessM Thu 12-Dec-13 17:36:14

nonu you are not any connection to the wonderful Ma'a are you, of the same name? (one of the stars of the All Blacks) . Can that boy run.
Goes off to do some cooking, making fanning movements with hands near face.

JessM Thu 12-Dec-13 15:28:02

Just checked with the expert and I gather they make he calf muscles look more something or other as well.
Another deep and philosophical question of the 21st century is: has La Lopez had plastic surgery to make hers stick out more or is it the product of many hours in the gym?

Soutra Thu 12-Dec-13 15:00:28

High heels affect the way you walk, drawing attention to the hips as they sway from side to side - clearly meant to be provocative. Why else would very high heels be referred to as "f**k me shoes"? Eh, Nonu??? tchgrin

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 12:18:47

JESS , I am not saying !! tchgrin

JessM Thu 12-Dec-13 11:45:36

tricky one galen
Very high heels, I am reliably informed, are popular with men because they make women's backsides stick out more. Isn't that right nonu?

Galen Thu 12-Dec-13 11:38:07

(Think the comma is right as I believe they are polygamous. Pedants please comment)
