It is really lovely. I am not a dressy up sort of gal so it will be super to dress up. Posh hotel for the wedding night so another excuse to buy something special.

Excuse me, Phoenix I recommended tights!

We don't want Wills having a Nora Batty moment grin

Silk hold ups. As long as they are new and you do not put moisturiser on your thighs you will be fine. Otherwse I would say tights.
Your outfit sounds out of this world - I hope you will be posting some pics!

Right, so far the consensus seems to be NOT tights, (well, no one has said yes to them) hold ups only with practice, & even then I think you might not feel confident, so it seems as though most votes are for lovely lingerie!

Lets face it, it's not often we get a chance to really dress up with all the bells and whistles, is it?! grin

Phoenix. The dress and jacket are ivory lace. I have seen shoes which are a lovely match. Just to get hat or a fascinator. Bridesmaids are a dusty antique blush link to match the sweet avalanche roses. Perhaps a cream or an ivory hat with a touch of really pale link ........

willsandco very exciting. I'd wear lace stocking, basque, corset the works if you fancy that.

But I'd have a trial run first, I went wedding dress try on with my daughter who is getting married in July, last weekend, and we got the giggles because all the dresses she tried on wore her, instead of the other way round. And what with the bones and the bodices she was so busty in some of them that her boobs came out the dressing room before she did. And with all the underskirts she said she was exhausted that evening because the dresses weighed a ton! LOL.

I never use a sunbed but there are some lovely subtle 'summer mist' spray-on products, I always use the L'Oreal one before I go on holiday somewhere where my arms and legs are going to be out.

Best wishes on the forthcoming nuptials - there's hope for us all!

Unless you're used to stockings & suspenders/hold-ups, I'd go for sheer tights - you don't want to be worrying about wardrobe malfunctions!

As for corsets and basques - keep them for the honeymoon wink

I agree 100% with Phoenix, especially re the holdups- certainly in my case, on occasions they made interesting ankle socks. Very embarrassing. All I could do was to remove them as they were not fit for purpose. Shiny white legs do not look good either but at least you will have a long dress on.

It is exciting. My outfit is gorgeous italian lace. Three grandchildren are bridesmaids and great grand daughter is flower girl and grandson is giving me away. So all the children from both sides are involved which is so lovely

Go for it with the corset/basque !

Anne58 Tue 14-Jan-14 18:41:43

I re-married a few years ago, had a few sun-beds blush and didn't bother with any overlegs!

If you think you might like to wear stockings & suspenders, go for it!

I wouldn't go with hold ups unless you have a few trial runs and find some that you feel comfortable with, after all you don't want to be furtling around under your frock and hoicking them up!

Tell us what colour the dress is and what colour the shoes are, that might help on the colour front.

willsandco Tue 14-Jan-14 18:40:42

Must say that is a lovely idea. My future husband would love that! Perhaps a size 16 corset or a basque!

Asolutely stockings & suspenders OR Holdups ^OR as your daughter suggests none at all !
All sounds very exciting !
flowers to you

What about silk stockings?

willsandco Tue 14-Jan-14 18:33:29

I am 66 and getting married again on 12 april. I have got a lovely floor length antique lace outfit. My daughters and i cant agree what hosiery i should wear. If tights, what colour, flesh coloured? One daughter says dont wear any! Am i too old for stockings and suspenders? Ooh la la! Anyone any advice?
