Go for it Mamcaz.
Ariadne - that's the reason I still go into shops, rather than buy on the internet. I'm a 14 in 'better' clothes, but not in the cheaper ranges (18 o more).
Shoes - maybe I should start a thread - I will.

I'll go into any shop because my money is as good as the next person's. However, I know what you mean Ariadne when you see some shops where all the clothes look as if they were made for waifs.

Or there is a shop for example called "Forever 21", er, not really. grin

Reminds me - I recently bought a top on eBay, without checking where it came from. I ordered XL to make sure it would skim. No such luck - it was from China and was minute! DGD2 is now wearing it. She is 10!

The sizing doesn't help. I can still get into size 12 at Laura Ashley and M&S but seem to be a 16 at places like Top Shop sad.

Oh, I've just discovered that the "Wearing Topshop - over 40?" thread covers this topic.

Having read the replies on it, I think I it really might just be me! Now I know so many other Gransnetters go in whatever shop takes their fancy, I will try to pluck up the courage to do the same!

These days, when I go clothes shopping, I walk past shop after shop that I daren't go into because I have the impression (partly because they are staffed entirely by glamorous young assistants) that I would be out of place and therefore unwelcome there because of my age (early fifties).
I am thinking of shops like River Island, where I used to love to shop when I was in my thirties. Then there is New Look, which is very definitely aimed at youngsters, yet I am sure that there must be stuff in there that I would like too.

I suppose that I could pretend that I am shopping for a daughter or granddaughter, but somehow I can't quite bring myself to do that.

Is it just me who daren't go in these places?
