Clothes for a wedding

Yes, yes, yes ! I'm a large size so occasion wear is a nightmare. I see so many outfits I would love to wear but can't get the size.

We are going to the evening do of a friend's daughter in October even this has already got me worrying.

Me too Nina We are going to a wedding in early April and I still haven't thought about clothes. Shoes are a problem too Tegan with my size 9 EEE feet. Hope you find something nice in your order.

I thought if I started looking now I'd find something suitable. I reckon the Chanel type jacket is going to be the one I'll be glad I bought as I can pair it with smart trousers and look smart and comfortable [which is how I always want to dress anyway; well, not the smart bit]. I've just found some straw hats in the warcdrobe that I'd forgotten about. I've got a thing at the moment about one of those feather type headband things that people wore in the fifties; I bet once the wedding is over they'll be in vogue again and the shops will be full of them. I just go into a sort of panic mode when I'm in the shops and can't think straight. Instead of a hat I might just buy some very expensive sunglasses and wear them on my head; I do that in the summer anyway but with cheap ones cause sunglasses are easy to lose [or sit on] but if I know they're expensive I'll feel a bit Jackie O ...til I sit on them....The shoes I bought for my daughters wedding still feel ok, it's just that I can't walk in them [can't do heels].

Wish I'd thought of the sunglasses idea for my daughter's wedding, I used to wear sunglasses on my head in the sixties . i ended up buying a Fascinator, for my DD's wedding, in BHS and was very pleased with it. Perhaps they will be back when the weather improves. I don't do hats they look stupid on me.

Last year I bought some smart fitted jackets on Ebay. I couldn't decide between 4, so I placed low bids and got them all for 99p each plus P&P! Two are tartan, not too bright in colour but cheerful. It was at the time that the Duchess of Cambridge wore a Black Watch one, increasing the popularity of plaid.
They are perfect for teaming up with simple trousers, dress or skirt, so I am sorted!

I loathe buying outfits for weddings. My usual attire is colourful leggings with a plain top. I am short waisted so can't buy dresses as they always feel uncomfortable. I wore a beautiful pink Chinese jacket to my daughters wedding with a plain pink matching skirt. Looked divine but I can't wear it again. Hate wearing heels. I dread 'posh' do's and get into a funk about what to wear. Good luck Tegan with what you decide to wear - I am sure it will be lovely.

There was a lot of twoing & froing last year for me with e-bay when I was looking for dress/suit for DS2s wedding in total I think I bought 4 outfits and 5 hats before I settled on the perfect outfit and I can't remember how many pairs of shoes I sent for before I found the perfect ones,they where very glitzy and high heeled but DD suggested that I stay in one place all day and not try and walk in them
After I made my selection I did re offer on e-bay and came away with a profit in the end.
A Chanel jacket is a fabulous staple piece for any wardrobe and will do you proud for many occassions.

Well, it's not proper Chanel [it's Hauber] and I'm still quite chuffed with it [not the usual panic about buying something I shouldn't have]. Found a load of vintage clothes in a local antique shop today and can, at least cross them off my list. You have to be the right age to wear vintage [ie young and pretty]. Old and grey haired and you just look as if it's something you've dug out of the back of your wardrobe. They also had some vintage hats [which is what I was looking for] and I just looked as if I was wearing a shower cap . So can cross those off the list now.

Everyone assumes that I will always look scruffy, which is very helpful and saves a lot of effort.

I'm actually happy that I'm at the invisible age and it doesn't really matter what I wear as no one will notice me anyway [and certainly won't notice my fat little legs]. Keep having panics that this wedding will be cancelled having spent so much on clothes. Or that they've forgotten that I've been invited .
