The women in the new Marks and Spencer campaign.
I really hope M and S have listened to their customers. I used to shop there all the time but not so often now.

I've just comeback from Tesco with a very stylish, petrol blue, 100% cotton t-shirt that cost £4.
I doubt Tesco spent anything marketing it!

Linen mix fabric looks like the real thing and is much less crushable.

I like linen, DH hates it, he always wants to follow me around with an iron. He grumbles away "did you know that skirt is all wrinkled, that shirt could do with a good press" etc!

I have worn some M&S casual stretchy tops this weekend blush. Should I cut the labels out of them?

For the life of me I can't understand why Doreen Lawrence agreed to do this - is the fee going to charity?

Reminds me of President Gorbachev when he advertised Pizza Hut!

I can't imagine Annie Lennox ever wears anything from M and S. And why Doreen Lawrence? Doesn't make me want to buy anything from the shop. They would be better off spending the ad campaign money on designing nicer clothes.

About 20 years ago, I stood quietly as my mother insisted that the (linen) expensive frock she'd bought was wrinkled in minutes. the posh assistant pointed out it's a linen garment. Mum said she didn't care what it was made of, she didn't want a dress that looked crumbled as soon as she put it on. Guess who won that argument, despite said frock having been worn once (and found wanting).

Fabric snobbery! grin

petallus Mon 07-Apr-14 11:45:53

Is not us

petallus Mon 07-Apr-14 11:45:36

Why us that?

Penstemmon Mon 07-Apr-14 11:24:09

Aka but it is better to look crumpled in linen than in polyester!

Aka Sun 06-Apr-14 22:43:29

Can't wear linen. Within 10 minutes I look a mess with wrinkles at the elbows, knees, across the front and back.

Have to confess - bought myself a nice linen baggy shirt in denim blue from their denimy range. Bit of a mandarin collar. But I am not going to post a link to it, because i don't want it to pop up everywhere i go on the Internet smile

Galen Sun 06-Apr-14 16:15:28

That's the sort of thing that I do!
That's why it's a good job I can't get out and about these days!

Penstemmon Sun 06-Apr-14 14:57:08

I popped into a food store for a sandwich that has a very small clothes section and came out with two dresses!! blush

Glammy57 Sun 06-Apr-14 14:30:27

Only M&S could make Annie Lennox and Emma Thompson look frumpy!

Charleygirl Sun 30-Mar-14 13:42:40

Yes Rosequartz, like you I also bought a dressing gown in the sale. The first one, which was a button up, could have fitted me twice. The next size down just fits but there is no leeway. That is an incentive to lose some weight!

rosequartz Sun 30-Mar-14 11:10:35

Mine has a chevron pattern too, Galen. So if I see a lady wearing a skirt the same as mine with a black jumper (and pearls), I promise not to shout out 'snap, you bought that from M&S!'

rosequartz Sat 29-Mar-14 23:39:50

I did buy a good quality tweed wool skirt in the sale ..... and a dressing gown blush

Galen Sat 29-Mar-14 21:31:21

I've just bought a very nice and practical black and white chevron skirt from their bargain shopblush
It looks very nice with a black polo neck jumper (and of course, pearls!)

rosesarered Sat 29-Mar-14 20:54:29

Deedaa I agree! Those garments have been not sold for a very good reason....... lol

Deedaa Fri 28-Mar-14 21:34:52

I get a bit worried by some of the ladies I see in M&S pulling the most hideous garments off the sale rails. It takes a real effort sometimes not to say "You're surely not buying THAT!!!"

Iam64 Fri 28-Mar-14 17:49:55

I called into M&S for something to eat this evening, so had a look at the clothes. Dire in the branch I was in - it's such a shame that people seem to call in as I did, for food, (occasionally) but the clothes are hopeless

FlicketyB Fri 28-Mar-14 17:21:43

More style

goldengirl Fri 28-Mar-14 16:46:42

I've just discovered Monsoon and Accessorize! Much better.

Deedaa Thu 27-Mar-14 20:18:04

I get annoyed by some of the photographs that claim to show "necklace by so and so" or "shoes by whoever" but are posed in such a way that you can't actually see the item! What is the point?
