My MIL took a size 9 and always had a struggle to get any shoes to fit. I think there is more choice these days thank goodness.

Both my girls really struggle with shoes they take 8 and 9 respectively but are 5'9" and 6' whereas I am 5'3" and take a size 5 but I do think girls feet seem much larger nowadays.

I was wondering about feet as I'm now a 4 1/2 but always wore size 4 [wondered if that was why my feet are so bad now?]. Have just had some size 4 shoes repaired [two of the court shoes I've ever owned that don't hurt my feet] and I'm struggling to wear them.

I go in and out in the right places - it's just that the in doesn't go as far in as the out, which goes out too far grin

Ooops meant to add I have got burns on both my elbows from that bloomin' exercise. Can't remember the last time I had carpet burns? shock

I do a Pilates class every week jane "The plank" is evil !

I know what you mean about averting your eyes ! grin

I walked out of hospital wearing my jeans after I had my two children. The jelly belly came much, much later. Perhaps muscle tone has gone.

I have size 7 feet and I am 5'1" when I went into hospital to have 1st baby I was asked what size my feet were as it was believed to have some relation to pelvis size.

They got that completely wrong with me! Two C sections.

I think wobbly tummies are a legacy from our child-bearing days Gilly.
I have recently added the Plank exercise to my little daily routine.

It really is best to avert your eyes from your stomach while you're doing it thoughshockgrin

I have recently lost a bit of weight but still have a wobbly tummy. I can't get rid of it. I didn't have a wobbly jelly belly when I was younger. Why is that?

gillybob Mon 19-May-14 13:24:58

Aaaah but that's pure muscle Galen not booby fat ! smile

I've put on 2" round the bust since I started archery?hmm

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 13:22:42

Yes, my feet have grown over the years from a 5 to 5.5, now mainly a 6.
Or shoes sizes are smaller.
Apparently our noses keep on growing all our lives, unfortunately.

I think what used to be a size 10 is now what they call a size 16. I hope so, anyway.

A 12 used to be 36, 24, 36, didn't it? Can't remember. Now about 36, 29, 38 according to one chart.

gillybob Mon 19-May-14 13:19:23

No way are you "large" janeainsworth and surely your feet have to be in proportin to your height or you might topple over ! grin

I am a size 5.5 shoe. Would love to have bigger boobs though. Clothes look better with boobs to fill them out. I was blessed with 36 B's . I don't know where DD got her giant Boobygons from confused Well at least mine are still where they should be.

rosesarered Mon 19-May-14 13:07:45

I used to take size 4 but not any more, our feet spread [like our waists.]

rosesarered Mon 19-May-14 13:06:49

Is the rest of you large? grin

janeainsworth Mon 19-May-14 12:58:52

Hey! I take size 6.5 shoes and my feet are not large compared to the rest of me! grin

rosesarered Mon 19-May-14 12:16:54

Their feet are getting bigger too! The average size shoe is now a size 6.
That used to be considered quite large years ago.

Spin off thought from my recent shopping thread on tops in M and S. Noticed the number of tops that suit the more curvy woman these days. And the population has got more curvy since I were a lass.

Started with the pill. Then there was the fashion for implants. Also the weight gain thing - women are not so lean. And it seems there is also what is called "epigenetics" - the effect of environment on how genes affect the body. Several generations of well fed pregnant women and healthy children who have few childhood illnesses have increased height, shoe size and bra size it seems.

(I am trying to use words that are not going to attract a million female chest fetishists to GN. Not the kind of visitors that GN wants)

There are lots of words on the subject here, including some silly ones from a young women who likes the fact that her chest is the first thing that men notice about her. Well that must be lovely for her.
