grin!! But just think how those pointy bits would catch on your socks...hmm

janerowena Sat 17-May-14 21:44:49

Clippers for me. And nail varnish in the summer. Dull gold or paleish pink usually.

Maybe I could cut a v shape all along, pinking shears would be good for that. If nothing else it would enable me to pay DBH back for when he kicks me in bed.

Well I just cut the corners off and I've never had ingrowing ones!

janeagrin

Ana Sat 17-May-14 20:55:45

jane! shock Not a good look...

moomin Sat 17-May-14 20:45:41

Gosh Soutra can you drive safely in flipflops?

Soutra Sat 17-May-14 20:42:52

Gel polish is a good long lasting solution plus* there is no danger of smudging them.as you shuffle to the car in your flip flops.

I can still suck my big toe. If I wanted to.

As for finger nails - cut, smooth and buff. Never, never paint.

moomin Sat 17-May-14 20:40:29

Oh that sounds simple janea

janeainsworth Sat 17-May-14 20:35:12

To avoid ingrowing toenails you have to cut a little v-shape in the middle of the nail.

Ana Sat 17-May-14 20:33:06

Ooh, no not curved - for some reason that's BAD! grin

JessM Sat 17-May-14 20:17:41

Straight cut or curved?

Galen Sat 17-May-14 20:14:01

Should have been reach not tech

Galen Sat 17-May-14 20:13:28

I suspect that JessM will be asking for sample cuttings from all groups to see if there is any difference in the molecular structure of the nail ends according to the method used?
Either that or because she's a witch and is going to put curses on us!

Galen Sat 17-May-14 20:10:35

Can't tech them any more. Looking forward to a manicure and pedicure.
I did used to be able to bite my big toe until my OA got too bad.

moomin Sat 17-May-14 19:55:47

Soak 'em, cut 'em, file 'em, sometimes paint 'em

janeainsworth Sat 17-May-14 19:53:47

Jess is a scientist Lona! She's allowed to ask!
It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that someone somewhere has been granted funding to research the effects of painting one's toenails on the emotional health of the Ageing Populationgrin

tanith Sat 17-May-14 19:43:38

Cut them, file them and paint in Summer.

Culag Sat 17-May-14 19:27:08

I paint 'em because I will garden in my sandals and the nails get so dirty! So I paint them so the dirt doesn't show blush I find though, that when I eventually take the varnish off, there are white patches on the nail. Anyone else get this?

Lona Sat 17-May-14 19:24:31

JessM Why do you want to know what our toenail habits are? hmm

grin seems a bit weird to me

Cut, file and paint!

Ana Sat 17-May-14 19:19:30

Cut them. Never painted them in my life!

whenim64 Sat 17-May-14 19:14:45

File 'em, then paint them coral. So tempting to paint each one a different colour.

grannyactivist Sat 17-May-14 19:05:53

Cut. With difficulty. grin

JessM Sat 17-May-14 19:00:17

Do you cut 'em? clip 'em? Bite 'em? Paint 'em?
