neices wedding what to wear

My daughter has just been to a similar wedding in Scotland - on a beach, guests staying in yurts, tents and pine lodges. Everybody wore the usual wedding garb and were either bare-footed or in fancy wellies as it was in fairly cold weather on wet sand most of the time.

Really I think the best thing is to ask her- she is the only one who knows exactly what she has in mind and how the whole thing will proceed. Ask her what she wants.

Layers, wellies and anti midge cream

You will probably get away with normal wedding attire in August and a Yurt will be very comfortable,I would though make sure I took a warm wrap for the evenings something dressy would be good just to keep off any late night chill, oh and don't forget the over the top hat !!

Take a bottle of Avon, Skin so Soft to keep midges away. Works extremely well and you can buy it online. Wear what you are comfortable in. Hope you have a great time. Slainte!

Just not high heels. Go for flat. High heels on soggy ground not good.

I think I would go for soft silky full trousers and a very nice beaded tunic - like a very stylish hippy.

Agree with Marmight, went to 2 similar events, one on a Scottish beach and one in a garden in the Lake District. Younger people tend to wear what they wear to festivals on their feet but smarter dresses and suits etc. I got very cold in the evening so take a wrap and encourage the bride to hire 50 golf umbrellas as our Scottish bride did and hope the weather will be as good as it was for her on the day.

I came thinking someone would have good ideas for my niece's wedding on 4th July in posh hotel.

I've got the out fit but do you think I can wear my slippers as the shoes that go are very uncomfortable? Wearing flip flops or wellies sounds like bliss!

I've given up on high heels now Kitty and wear ballet flats with dresses and skirts. Next best thing to slippers.

I went to a wedding on a Scottish island six years ago. When I asked the bride's mum if I should wear a hat, I was told in no uncertain terms that everyone wore hats (women, anyway). They did, and I did. That was quite a wedding! Best to find out what kind of wedding it's going to be - formal/informal; traditional/modern etc.

Shem silky trousers and tunic sounds perfect - for an activity centre I wouldn't bother with hat (but I didn't wear a hat to DS's wedding in a 'castle'!) Smidge has now overtaken Skin so Soft on this island as the best defence against midges. have a great time.
