Callyann I looked up the reviews on Amazon and I did not think that they were good enough to spend all that money.

Has anyone any experience of using NO!No! For facial hair removal. I know it is expensive, but is it painful? Does it work? Do the hairs grow back quickly?

Well, just braved my first upper lip waxing this morning! Am off on holiday soon and thought I would give it a go. Went to a local beautician and she was so quick! Used a honey based wax and it really was not as painful as I thought it would be. Now 40 minutes later it is just tingly and I must make sure I don't touch it! I just hope they don't grow back too quickly!

"I have a Braun Silk Epil 5"

Why did reading that make me clench my knees together?! I know we are talking face here, but DD uses one for the bikini line.

Shudder!

There's a little gadget you can buy (Betterware do one) that works on the same lines as threading. Hard to describe it, but the 'business' part is like a very tightly coiled spring, which you roll over the appropriate area. Takes a bit of practising, but once you've got the hang of it, it's really good! Think it's about £4.

Not every therapist knows how to thread but if done properly, the results can last, in my opinion, longer than waxing. It is painful although very fast.

I do my own hot waxing using the stuff from Boots. I melt it on the wood-burner in winter and over a candle in summer. Works a treat when you get the hang of it. My left eyebrow is sometimes a bit bald, though. grin

Thank you very helpful, what about threading on facial hair on cheeks and chin

I have a Braun Silk Epil 5 which is about £50 from Argos and Amazon, it may be cheaper on ebay.

I also use the Whizzit mentioned earlier, which is battery-operated and only about £6-10, handy for occasional use or holidays.

can anyone recommend a facial epilator, I use hair removal cream for top lip but reading the posts here makes me want to try one.. not too expensive though.

Ana Fri 18-Jul-14 10:40:50

No, it grows back slower and finer, in my experience, anyway. Very easy to use, just run the head of the appliance over the skin and the multiple tweezers just pull the hairs out - quickly!

Boatyard Fri 18-Jul-14 08:59:04

Does the hair grow back quicker and courser with an epilator and are they easy to use

Ana Thu 17-Jul-14 21:04:58

Plucking's fine, but if you're talking heavy-duty coverage, you can't beat a decent epilator (electric plucking tool, so to speak). Much quicker and easier than individually plucking.

People seem to be put off by the perceived pain-factor. Honestly, you soon get used to it!

It's wonderful what can be done with a pair of tweezers... smile

Count yourselves lucky! Without regular electrolysis I would have a beard to rival my husband's

suebailey1 Thu 17-Jul-14 09:00:04

Wax definitely for a smooth finish otherwise make up sits in the hairs!!!!!shock. I played golf with a lady a couple of weeks ago with a lovely tash clogged with foundation yuk yuk!!!

oldcelt Thu 17-Jul-14 06:56:51

Thanks for the replies. I think I will carry on with plucking. smile

Coolgran65 Thu 17-Jul-14 00:22:11

Wax lip, chin and eyebrows for holidays, otherwise.. I pluck. I usually can be found reading GNet while I pluck away, doing it by feel alone. smile

I sympathise as I too have a downey face and upper lip hair that I have had since I was about 12! I tried electrolysis on long chin hairs but then they would sprout somewhere else! Now I just pluck the longest ones. My concern with waxing upper lip is that if all hair is removed surely they ALL grow back at the same time, giving the appearance of more thickness. If left to themselves, the hairs grow at different times so are different lengths. Again I now just pluck the hairs that show the most. Part of me says that I have lived through my teens and for 50 years with this problem so why start waxing now? I am also concerned that with a creased upper lip, waxing would be more difficult than on a young smooth skin!
I would steer clear of the Nono. I looked it up some time ago and think there is a finishing off process which sounded a bit like mild sand papering! I recall an emery type mit used to be available for removing leg hair. Maybe this is the real active part of the Nono?
Not fair, is it but I know there are worse things that some people have to cope with

Nelliemoser Wed 16-Jul-14 23:30:10

I wondered what price those No No things were.

Does anyone know if they work?

That stupid name puts me off the product right away. There is virtually no product information at all. Just a lot of unconvincing endorsements.

IMO that is crap marketing which leaves me with no confidence in the product at all. Has anyone actually tried it?

The lack of a stated price also makes me doubt it as good value. If you have a good product tell people all about it.

Charleygirl Wed 16-Jul-14 22:52:30

A No No appliance costs £199 which is a bit steep if the person is not certain that is for her. Admittedly one can return it after I think 60 days free trial if it is not satisfactory.

Ana Wed 16-Jul-14 22:31:19

Just get a Whizzit (google it) - whips those hairs off in no time! I wouldn't bother apart from the chin and upper lip, though.

Maniac Wed 16-Jul-14 22:23:13

How about one of those No No appliances constantly advertised on the shopping channels.
Glad to say its one problem I've never had to cope with.
best wishes

Charleygirl Wed 16-Jul-14 22:17:16

If you did start to wax, would the growing hair not become thicker and darker? I would get some professional advice before having it done.

oldcelt Wed 16-Jul-14 21:44:43

I have a lot of very fine fair hair on my face. It's getting longer as I get older, but still fair and fine. Should I have a chin wax? As I have this down over most of my face where would I stop? Any thoughts?
