I'm a size 20/22 and 5'5" tall and, with a mid thigh top, I don't look like humpty dumpty! I may even go out in them!grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 18:43:14

One of my knees is more wrinkled than the other.

I think I'm getting obssessed with ageing now! shock

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 18:42:14

I have just made myself dizzy attempting to look at my thighs/knees in real-time.

kittylester Wed 01-Oct-14 18:37:54

Give them a try phoenix - as I said ^^, if I can anyone can!! I'm pear shaped but a really large curvy pear! grin

Anne58 Wed 01-Oct-14 18:22:23

I do wish I had the confidence, but I am so pear shaped, and the fat bits of my thighs reaches to my knees. (That doesn't sound right, I mean that from my hips to my knees seems quite plump, then suddenly goes sort of normal)

Oh bugger, I give up!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 17:33:43

Oh that does sound bad. sad flowers

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 17:32:19

Same here. Left leg worse than right. And it's the left one I get excema on. Odd isn't it.

kittylester Wed 01-Oct-14 17:30:32

Should have added - it is horrendous - not just thread veins, leakage, knots the flipping lot! sad

kittylester Wed 01-Oct-14 17:29:33

jingle - varicose veins!! sad Strangely, though, only on the right leg - the left leg looks about 20 years younger! confused

janerowena Wed 01-Oct-14 17:27:10

grin But jings do you wear a top that is so short that you can see the bunchy bit at the top of your behind? That is what I hate to see.

I know a lady in her 70s who carries off the look very well. It's impossible to say why some people can, others can't. I've seen it look better on some plumper ladies than on some with legs that are too skinny. I think plumper legs give them more of a trouser silhouette.

Nelliemoser Wed 01-Oct-14 17:12:59

A friend of mine who was reasonably tall with good legs looked decidedly like mutton dressed as lamb in leggings and a tunic top that stopped above her knees. IMO not a good thing.

A longer tunic might be a better option, but then I am a bit of a fuddy duddy.

Maybe a knee length or longer top.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 17:07:37

I wear elasticated waist trousers.

So there.

grin

grin The funny thing is, I wouldn't dream of buying trousers with an elasticated waist, but it seems perfectly acceptable in these, probably because there is no bunchiness.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 16:52:45

With grey wiggly bits down the front of the foot.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 16:49:46

I've got some varicose veins. And loads of thread veins. Wouldn't say the foot is completely blue though. Just the bit on the inner ankle.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 16:47:34

kittylester. How come your foot is blue? Have you sprained your ankle, or is it varicose/thread veins? I'm sorry if this is a rude question but I really need to know. smile

J52 Wed 01-Oct-14 16:46:39

Love wearing leggings / jeggings. Sainburys Tu range is good. I wear pop sock ankle socks to bridge the gap. X

Soupy Wed 01-Oct-14 16:31:18

I get mine from H&M - think they're about £6 per pair and last for ages. Mind you, I only buy them in black and make sure they go down to my ankles.

I've only started wearing them recently, with a tunic, usually from White Stuff, but they're soooo comfy.

these would probably be bendy but I couldn't see them. (and I don't think I dare grin)

Ooh I want those - nicer than the definitely-not-supersoft-in-fact-a-bit-scratchy ones I have

Marelli Wed 01-Oct-14 16:07:24

Love my leggings! Wear long tunic tops/short dresses with them teamed with a long cardi on a cool day. Knee-length boots or ballet flats (with bare feet). So comfy!

kittylester Wed 01-Oct-14 15:57:24

Now I would look like barrage balloon in those! And what do you wear on your feet - especially if you have a blue foot?

nannymoocow Wed 01-Oct-14 15:42:45

Try the harem trousers from Next. They are so comfortable, grip at the ankle but skim over my knobbly knees and chubby thighs!

kittylester Wed 01-Oct-14 15:31:05

Except my mum Mamie that's my go to place for her! grin

Mamie Wed 01-Oct-14 15:08:39

No you are not too old. No age is too old for leggings and tunics and boots. Warm, comfortable, practical and forgiving.
On the other hand all ages are too young for M and S Classic range.

henetha Wed 01-Oct-14 15:03:19

I absolutely love the leggings and short dress/tunic look, but at age 77 consider myself too old. I'm 5'6", size 16. Would this look make me seem like mutton dressed as lamb, do you think? Answers on a postcard please. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 01-Oct-14 14:57:49

kitty the top I'm wearing today is from East. It's blue with little blue and white elephants all over it.
