Andy Murray's wedding - outfits

I realise that we all have our own personal tastes and some of my comments will not match other Gransnetters but here goes.

Andy looked great in his sporran and for once he was smiling.

Kim, his new wife looked lovely in her wedding dress, which had a slightly old fashioned feel about it. Her head band was very natural and it was good to see her hair held back so we could see her face.

To be honest I can't stand seeing usually over weight women in strapless wedding dresses. I am not that slim myself so I understand how showing less flesh can look better.

Judy Murray, who I realised was someone with a really nice sense of humour on SCD, looked sensational in her very elegant dress, hat and coat, however I have noticed some women who are grey, or blonde, wear virtually colourless clothes. She would have looked so much better with a bit more colour in her outfit.

The Duchess of Cornwall did the same thing at her wedding, lovely clothes but colourless.

What are your views?

I thought Kim's dress was very nice. Much better than those off the shoulder dresses that most brides wear these days. The bridesmaids did look rather old fashioned, I thought, and I wasn't keen on the dusty pink colour. I admire them for not going down the 'Hello' or 'OK' route. Obviously they don't need the money! Both Andy and Kim looked happy which is the main thing.

I just think her dress is delightfully womanly and makes a welcome change from all the brides' dresses that try and make them look thin. Good for her.

I wish I was as slim as JM Teetime. I suspect it is because she is very sporty and perhaps she doesn't eat as much as me. smile

Ooh yes. She looks lovely

Looks like he had a haircut specially too. smile

I liked the bridesmaids colour if not the furry fluffy shrug thing but I expect it's cold there in spring. The bride looked lovely and so happy.JM looked severe as usual and far too thin. Looked like a fun day though.

They all looked lovely.

I liked her dress and I liked Andy's dress as well. grin

Bez? confused

I think Kim is very pretty but the dress was not the most flattering shape. As others have said it was not a slim-line style which would have showed off her figure. Still, each to her own! Andy looked very dashing though - he has the height and physique to carry off the kilt - as does his brother Jamie. I bet Judy was very proud of her boys!

Sorry Bez! Auto correct! x

Bed in the Scottish Sunday's, but also on BBC website, it has video footage. X

I thought that Kim looked very feminine - not a model stick woman - a real woman.

I do admire them for not going down the "Hello" route and being seduced by megabucks, but just having a happy family wedding.

Did anyone see the bit about the photographer at the rehearsal on the previous day dropping dead from a heart attack poor chap - he was only 47.

Judy's outfit looked gold to me. Seemed like a fine traditional Scottish wedding.

I thought Judy looked lovely but I thought it was bad etiquette to wear white at a wedding if you are not the bride - especially as mother of the groom.

I went to a wedding once where bride, bridesmaids, mother of the bride, pageboys and the dressmaker who made the bridesmaids dresses were all in a creamy off-white. Beautiful, but perhaps not right.
The mother of the groom confided in me that she felt quite 'left out of the picture' (it had all been a 'big secret') but in fact she looked the best in her fuschia and lilac ensemble!

I thought I typed where did you see the photo!

Bez Sun 12-Apr-15 18:34:00

Are did you see that photo J52 I have only seen the same couple everywhere.

J52 Sun 12-Apr-15 18:31:48

The back of the dress was stunning. I expect the guests will appreciate it when she takes her veil off later. x

Bez Sun 12-Apr-15 18:29:39

I think the dress made her look fatter than she really is - was all sort of gathered fabric and pulled in at her waist - a long line might have shown her figure off more.
I thought Judy's hat was spoilt by that strange thing sort of under the brim - but the rest of the outfit very nice.

ninathenana Sun 12-Apr-15 18:28:30

Haven't seen pics of the bridesmaids. I was surprised to see Judy in white. I agree with J52 that's the brides privilege.
Bride and groom looked lovely.

I did think she looked a tad 'matronly' but maybe she is just well endowed.

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 18:15:23

I think the residents of Dunblane might have a fit to hear it called "Dumbland" gringrin Predictive spelling has a lot to answer for!!!
PS I agree about the bridesmaids and wondered (unworthily) if Kim was continuing the tradition of always choosing bridesmaids and their dresses to look frumpy so that the bride looks even more glam! Not that Kim needed to although she is not as slim as I had thought from seeing her at Andy's matches. You don't think there is an announcement in the offing???hmm?

whitewave Sun 12-Apr-15 18:11:53

They all looked as if they could do with a vest ongrin

Lona Sun 12-Apr-15 18:11:09

I DID NOT TYPE DUMBLAND!!
Dunblane!
