As part of our preparations to get the mobile site up and running we are changing the way we do reviews to make sure they work just as well on a phone or tablet as they do on the desktop site.

This means discontinuing the old-style review pages and moving them onto the forums instead. We will also be losing the product reviews topic on the forums as we reckon it's far easier to find reviews for beauty products, say, under 'Style and beauty' or great hotels under 'Travel' than it is to trawl through reams of things that are not relevant to your search.

That bit coming soon - but for now we will be reposting all your reviews for beauty products on this thread so that the info is still available to anyone who'd like to use it. Of course if you have others that you would like to rave/moan about do feel free to add here too.

Been trying to buy Anne French cleansing milk but think it's now discontinued. Can anyone recommend a similar product?

I'd like to share my new Favourite product, which my daughter has just introduced me to. It's called The Celestial Skin liquid lighting by Kevyn Aucoin. It's an illuminating fluid that can be used in many ways, mix it in with either your moisturiser or primer for a natural look, or with your foundation for a dewy glow. It can also be used to highlight the brow or cheekbones, and on your collar bones if you have a special night out. It has none of the glittery particles we are all advised to avoid, but simply gives a healthy glow similar to candlelight and we all know that's a good thing! Now for the bad news...it's not cheap, around £42 for a 30 ml pump dispenser but you only need a tiny amount each time so it will last a long time. It's available to buy in Spa NK or via their website if you don't have a local store. There are many other illuminators out there, often in a peach or pink tone but this one beats them all hands down! 10/10.

Bad Gal lash, Benefit - overall rating 6/10

(From ctrevor)

(2012) This mascara is easy to use and covers well without clumping your eyelashes together, although it is a bit on the expensive side.

(From kathcake)

(2011) Despite what you may pay for it, this is a very standard mascara which failed to impress me. It has a long brush which works nicely on your lashes but just didn't really boost them much.

Oriflame Sweden, Ecobeauty Smoothing Day Cream - overall rating 8/10

(From orijen)

(2012) Makes your skin feel so soft and is suitable for combination skin and is a natural product

Generation 6, Clarins - overall rating 8/10

(From suewilly)

(2011) I love this moisturising lotion from the Clarins brand. It is specifically formulated for 'older' skin and it has a lovely texture that is absorbed quickly and doesn't leave any sticky residue.

I often find that day and night creams are too heavy and either sit on my skin for ages after they are applied, or are absorbed without any noticeable effect. Generation 6 lotion leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

My only criticism of this lotion is the price. It usually retails for around £58 which I think is slightly expensive for a relatively small bottle. I keep buying it though because it actually seems to have a beneficial effect on my skin. When I don't use it I really notice a difference and my skin is definitely drier. So although I do think it would be lovely if this were less expensive I'll keep paying the price for a little dry skin relief.

A new clinical Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum, Avon - overall rating 8/10

(From scotsgran)

(2012) I was impressed with the way it faded age spots on the back of my hands.I haven't finished the tube yet but I notice a significant difference. Not sure it will completely eradicate the marks but I will continue to the end - I am pleased with the results so far.

Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Infusion, Estée Lauder - overall rating 8/10

(From Noni)

(2013) I've been using it for 3 weeks. It is light, easy to use and has a feel good factor to it. I do think fine lines have improved and it certainly feels hydrating. It is in a good dispenser, one pump is exactly the right amount for an eye and it is absorbed quite quickly. I don't think it has helped puffiness, but it has improved dark circles. As I was trialling it i have no idea how much it sells for, so comes with a caveat that it is great but at what price?

High brow pencil, Benefit - overall rating 8/10

(From samatherton85) a good little product, i use it on my brow bone and by the inner corners of my eye to make me look more awake.

(2012) I wouldn't say it's an essential as the same look can be achieved with any other highlighter make-up product you own but it does make the job simpler & quicker and not to mention it will last for ages as you only need a small amount.

(From NanSue)

(2012) A matt white pencil with a pink undertone used directly under the brow for an instant lift. A great product for younger fresher looking eyes.

Lash Adapt mascara, Boots No7 - overall rating 8.5/10

(From kathcake)

(2011) I thought it was a pretty decent mascara, coated my lashes well and didn't need too many coats. Will buy again.

(From CharlieMCB)

(2011) As promised you can indeed apply 6 coats without clumping so long as you don't apply too much per coat. Overall a good mascara that gives thicker longer lashes.

Touche Eclat, Yves St Laurent - overall rating 9/10

(From Carol)

(2012) Excellent for disguising dark circles under eyes, and although I've tried several other similar products, I always go back to Touche Eclat.

Sophie la Girafe - overall rating 9/10

(From LaraGransnet)

Sophie la Girafe is the most recognizable of baby toys, and has saved many a mother’s sanity (and babies’ discomfort) from the nightmare that is teething. Plus, the fact that Sophie is cute, light and little means she’s a change bag staple for most mums, including me.

Following on from Sophie’s popularity it’s no wonder that she’s branched out into new avenues. Sophie now does Baby Hair and Body Wash] as well as Baby Oil, both of which I had the pleasure of trying out on my newborn and toddler.

Elegantly packaged with the distinctive Sophie logo, I was impressed by the organic credentials and the fact that they are suitable for sensitive skin.

The hair and body wash was first to be tested. My toddler was at first skeptical of using a new product - two-year-olds don’t like a change from their routine - but came round once she recognised her beloved Sophie on the bottle. She has quite sensitive skin and, as promised, the product was mild and didn’t irritate her at all. On the second night we used it to wash her hair and, while brushing and drying afterwards is never a picnic, it certainly seemed less knotty. I was also pleased to note that although the shampoo has a delicate lavender scent, it was very subtle - I hate overpoweringly scented cosmetics, especially for children.

Then it was on to the baby oil. I used this on my three week old baby who still has flaky bits of skin. Because of the organic ingredients and mild composition of the oil, I felt it was safe to use it on him for baby massage. He’s quite a chilled baby in any case, but he really seemed to enjoy the massage - and the dry skin cleared up after a few days.

These are both lovely products. More expensive than your bog standard Johnson & Johnsons, but well worth it. Would make a lovely gift for a new or expectant mum.

Max Factor, Masterpiece Max Mascara - overall rating 9/10

(From gwen)

(2012) This is the best mascara, especially if, like me ,you have sparse lashes. I've tried all the others and always come back to this.

Gimmie Brow - overall rating 9/10

(From mrsbluesky)

(2014) Brilliant. Mascara for the eyebrows. Clings to even the smallest hairs. Very subtle finish. Doesn't look overdone.

Avon Advanced Techniques 360 Nourish Moroccan Argan Oil Leave-In Treatment - overall rating 9/10

(From Brendawymms)

(2012) This product does what it says on the bottle. You only need a tiny drop to bring control, stop fly-away hair and introduces control. Not expensive and it last months.

HQ1 Tue 07-Jul-15 16:25:03

Ageless Elixir, Max Factor - overall rating 9/10

(From goose1964)

(2011) A foundation that combines serum & foundation so it saves time on your beauty regime, it clains to reduce wrinkles if you use it every day. Gives great coverage without being mask like which I find a problem with most foundations. The only downside is that it is paler on than it looks in the bottle, but that problem should go now winter's here & my tan will fade, otherwise I was really impressed.

Goddess Face Serum, The Green Grocery - overall rating 9/10

(From wallers5)

(2011) A delicious rich serum, 100% organic with vitamin C, omega-6 & natural retinol all the better for a dry mature skin. You don't need to use too much at a time.

(From wallers5)

(2011) A divine smelling rich mix of organic & vegan oild- boabab (think of holidays in Africa) rosehip, carrot seed and antioxidant coffee bean.I used it at night & it absorbs quickly. Also you only need a few drops. Skin feels soft & plump by morning.

Makes a change from Protect & Perfect.

Quick Thinking 4-in-1 wipes, Boots No 7 - overall rating 9.3/10

(From celebgran)

(2012) They certainly do all of this, and are fine for a quick cleanse, but as a Beautician I have to say nothing replaces a thorough deep cleanse, with a good cleansing lotion followed by toning with a gentle rosewater toner, if you apply cleanser after using an all in one wipe you will be amazed at how much make up or grime still comes off.

(From carosanto)

(2011) What a find! These wipes cleanse, tone, remove eye makeup AND moisturise. Why waste time and money on four products when you can use just one? Let's hear it for the time AND cash poor....this product delivers.
