it's not so much what I forget to take as what I leave behind, most recently, a magnifying mirror; previously a favourite pair of navy trousers and I would love to know how I mislaid a rather good quality beach towel.

Holidaying in Blackpool one year we decided to go swimming. It wasn't until we had all changed into our swimwear that I realised we didn't have any towels, having completely forgotten to pack them. Fortunately the pool came with a well equipped shop and DH went and bought a couple. They were really good towels too, they lasted for years.

How can a man forget his undies? My ex used to gleefully say as we were leaving for our annual holiday [with me having packed for kids, dogs, any eventuality etc]'well, that's me packed' as he threw his socks, pants and a toothbrush into a holdall. I did forget to take dental floss when we toured Italy one year and always think of it as the holiday where I had dirty teeth [not sure why I didn't just buy some over there confused]. But the skipping rope I'd taken made a good washing line at one camp site [although I still don't understand why I took a skipping rope]. It was left at the campsite as well [wonder if it's still there waiting for me to take it down?].

That's a coincidence. On one of our trips in the Motohome I forgot everything of his. From then on there was always 6 pants and socks left in the van.
That was 30 yrs ago and he still won't forget it.
You might be wondering why I'm typing this in a hotel room in Nancy. I'm walked out. Saving some energy for Germany tomorrow.

We have more than once had to make an emergency trip to M&S because MrA has forgotten to pack his underwear/socks Petra
And he certainly didn't have the excuse that he hadn't put any on on the morning of departure!

Our worst incident of forgetting things was one year we were going on the narrowboat. In the study was a large quantity of things like pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, fruitcake, beer, wine, washing up liquidetc that we would need for the fortnight and that I'd gradually accumulated over the previous few weeks. The joys of a self-catering 'holiday'.

We got on the boat, did various jobs and he asked for a glass of orange squash. I looked around and realised that none of my stores were anywhere in sight.

He had always insisted that he was the only one capable of packing the boot of the car when we went anywhere, so I had left him to it.

He had neatly packed everything....... except all the food and drink.

We are on a little motoring trip to France and Germany. When I pack I think of everything (I'm a Virgo, very organised)
On the day we left, last Monday, I went to the hairdresser's for a perm (not a granny one) and I'm here in Nancy and it's p....ing down and I have forgotten to pack my CURLING BRUSH. Thank god I have a very nice sun hat.
I've just realised how I did that. It's because I didn't do my hair on Monday morning, duh.
