If you look good in them, go for it. You are never too old. I live by the
Mantra 'grow old disgracefully'!

I think they have to go with your style. I agree the face is important, but so is the hair. To me leather trousers are for women who take care to look stylish and that takes work. Not high maintenance exactly, just not someone who puts comfort at the top of their list.

Leather is usually shiny-ish which adds pounds, so slim is good. Bike leathers apart, don't do double leather, just as it's best to avoid double denim (on top and bottom) unless you know you can pull it off.

Check out a website called Pollyvore for ideas on how to put together a look for wearing leather trousers.

Personally unless I was size 12 or less (fat chance), I would walk away.

I must admit they do look lovely on someone who is tall and willowy but as much as I'd like to I think I'm past wearing leather trousers my daughters who are in their 40's are very trendy but have had doubts about wearing them themselves.

It's taken me until now (I am 71) to wear a pair of Jeans, somehow I can't see me going into leather trousers LOL

If you've got doubts about them you're probably best to give them a miss, your body is trying to tell you something!

Do not wash leather. Resident expert says polish it with leather cleaner. If stains just leave them. Actually he grew out of his nice leather trousers and I grew down into them, but they are not comfortable really. They were a bit heavy. They seemed to look ok though. I don't find jeans as comfortable as tracksuits but my day is walking the dogs and being round the house. To go and visit family I wear a skirt usually.

DD2 told me some years ago that when wearing trousers or skirts usually worn by much younger women, that its not the legs, its the face!

I feel happier in jeans and normal smart black trousers and boots. I really don't want to wear clothes my daughters would wear.
I haven 't got the hair which goes with them.

I would love leather trousers but having lost (I don't know where) two inches in height in recent years I would need to take them up. How? Glue? Staples?

If you do buy them, beware of sitting down on a leather sofa! grin

I wear them on the bike, as do a lot if ladies older and larger than me, but frankly biker leathers aren't sexy!

I agree that they can look good, but I think you really have to have the figure for them, at any age! If you have the confidence, go for it.

My sister had some on earlier this year, and she looked amazing. I would say, it's a bit like wearing satin. You can't afford to have any bulges when there is a sheen on a fabric. She wore hers with a biker jacket.

I think they can look really classy and smart with a nice jacket and ankle boots. They can also look trendy and dressy for a night out with a more elaborate top and some sparkly shoes. I say go for it. It's an investment! (Wink)

At any age I wouldn't I really really wouldn't. My sister bought herself some and they looked Ok but she said they were hot and uncomfortable and made rude noises when she sat down sometimes.smile

If they fit and you like them - who cares what other people think! You go girl!

BabsAnn Fri 11-Sept-15 15:08:34

Lol phoenix
Thanks roses I might just have to go back and try them on at least... Then make up my mind. I usually don't care and buy regardless but I wondered if this was pushing it. Maybe not!

Well, bullocks are washable aren't they?grin

Anne58 Fri 11-Sept-15 14:36:56

But check out how much the dry cleaning will be!

rosesarered Fri 11-Sept-15 14:31:43

Go for it! if you want them, why not.smile

I was out shopping today and I saw some. Not skintight Grease ones. More like relaxed chino level of tightness type ones. They looked quite nice but...I don't know. At my age? Would people laugh?
