No idea at all, yulle87
If they fit my waist they won't do up over my tum.
I do need some new ones, though.
And a snazzy Mary Berry jacket would be nice.
Shops and Cafes no longer here.
A Light Hearted Look at Nicknames
In a moment of unusual madness, I bought a pair of jeans in Asda (not a place I would normally shop for clothes) called "Wonder fit" that apparently stretch to fit all shapes. "alters size with you" it says on the label. Well, we've all heard that before! BUT THEY DO! I'm a size 20 and the 18-20 size not only fit, but look good. Result! I think they were either £10 or £12. Well happy here

NYDJ are good but the fit is not always the same and also I think they tend t stretch a by too much after a few washes. My problem is a flat bum so when the jeans fit around the waist they are too big around the bottom. Any ideas?
I am on a life long quest (like many others I'm sure ) to find the perfect pair of black denim jeans and have at least 40 pairs, which amuses my two daughters no end. I generally buy Roma bootcut from Per Una which were brilliant but the quality of them now is nothing like it was a few years ago.I also quite like Sainsburys and will look out for the Asda ones and DKNY but my latest find were at C&A in Palma ,Majorca, brilliant jeans for about 10 euros so if you're going there, have a look !!
Love M&S straight leg black jeans and Bonmarche do a comfortable fit jean as well. Although both tend to wash and fade...even though I use non bio wash? Thanks for the info re Asda...
If you look on the Groupon web site they do a range of imported pull on jeans from USA. They are the most comfortable and give fantastic shape. They have a wide waist band so definatly don't look like leggings or your average elasticated waist. Honestly they are worth a try and come in blk and blue, boot cut and skinny. Just put jeans into the search. Not always in stock but feature regularly.
Wow thanks for the info about ASDA jeans. I will be looking out for them. I have a big tummy so all jeans look wrong on me. I have slim legs though. I find that when i buy any trousers to get a waist that fits I also get legs that are too wide! The joys of a womanly figure!
I bought three pairs of nydj last autumn and they have all been washed and worn continuously and look good for a while yet. I think that represents good value. Having said that I also have two pairs of sainsburys jeggings on the go from about three years ago and they're fine too. I think the key to avoiding muffin top is to not kid yourself about sizes (so I buy a UK 12 not a 10, though I can fasten a 10, but my flesh pours over!) and to choose ones with a bit of stretch so the bigger hips you get with the more realistic size are not baggy.
The X Catalogue shops near me have closed down recently. I know of 2 branches locally, so assumed that they had all gone. Have bought great jeans from there in the past, for under a tenner a pair. Will be sadly missed.
I agree with both Townie and Shysal. I just live in NYDJ but my DD swears by M & S Sculpt and Lift and says they have a similar effect to NJDJs and a fraction of the cost
Great, I will definitely look at those.
I always buy Cotton Traders jeans - they fit like a dream and have a really good range of leg lengths (I need 31" so sometimes struggle). I've just bought some black bootcut ones - fantastic value at £30...!
The straight legs are OK I've got used to the look of them. The fit is Ok even though I have short fat hairy legs!
. You could send for a pair and send them back if you don't like the fit.
I love per una straight leg jeans in the dark denim I've bought a few pairs of the same jeans. They're very flattering style/ colour and fit is great for a pear shape like me.
For muffin tops go immediately to Debenhams and buy their body suit in the lingerie dept, or go online. You can wear your own bra with it and it eliminates bulges. I swear!!
My latest jeans are per una straight legs (o.k, I am 5'10") but they look fab with the bodysuit under the T shirt. Bodysuit well worth the outlay of about £30.00!
Me too, townie. I buy them cheaply on Ebay.
I recommend NYDJ - I never buy any other make.
I bought a pair from Viyella for £79 they are petite size 10 I'm not a size 10 but they're a great fit & I will definitely buy them again although it's more than I would usually spend.
If you can find them at a decent price, Joe Bloggs jeans are a brilliant fit and really stylish. I baulk a bit at the full price.
I get mine from a branch of the X Catalogue shop which has lines like Joe Bloggs and clothes from the JD Williams chain.
X Catalogue are a North of England small chain of stores that give unbelievable discounts on clothing. I regularly pick up £50 trousers for a few quid.
I hope flares don't come back too much. The only time I've fallen on our super steep stairs in 27 years was when I stepped on a really wide trouser leg. They went straight in the bin, I had visions of someone else doing the same if they'd gone in the charity shop.
According to those who know about such things, bootcut and even flares are back in fashion. Excellent news, especially as I have strange feet which are best kept hidden. Yes, I know that's a slightly different point when considering jeans, but, apart from a muffin top, that's what I need to hide! I bought a couple of pairs of bootcuts (actually more like flares) in the Debenhams sale for £9 each. That was a good day's shopping.
Straight cut, slightly fitted but not skintight legs.
Thanks all, I think I might try the Per Una. If I dare go for straight legs!!
kitty I just purchased a new pair of Black Jeans from Per Una style number Y62/4611J they are straight leg but Ok now that they don't have any bootcuts - worth a try price £39.50. My best denim jeans are from Gap they 355 but so worth it but they don't have black ones. I went to a WI fashion show last week which was almost all around NYJD jeans at £147 - I thought WI was into thrift!
Having put on a stone since last winter I was very pleased whilst clearing out my summer stuff and rehanging winter stuff to find that I had kept 4 pairs of trousers (three jeans and one pair of cords) in my previous larger size - great result, don't have the expense and considerable aggravation of shopping for new ones this year. Hopefully by next year I will have found some self control/willpower and be able to get back into my last year's trousers!! Ever the optimist that's me.......
The last jeans I bought came from Sainsbury's. They are the best fit I've had in ages. I usually buy bootcut because I read somewhere that they extend the appearance of your legs, and I'm only 5' 3". These are straight cut and I really like them. I need some more, so I am planning a trip to Carlisle as that's where my nearest Sainsbury's is.
I got pair yesterday that fit brilliantly.... hospice shop £2.
They are Gap petite size 18. . Which is weird because I'm 5'6" .have never worn a petite in my life.
I've tried the M & S Sculpt and Lift but they overstretched too much and 'grow' during the day, spend ages hoiking them up. I'm not built for belts.
M & S elastic waist jeggings are great for everyday use.
