Winter boots

I need to buy some new long boots this winter - the soles have perished on my nice Clark's ones, although the leather is still perfect.

In 1970 I bought a beautiful pair of purple suede boots from a market stall. I wore them and wore them until I eventually wore holes in the toes. Now it's sensible fur lined boots with non slip soles

I bought my new winter boots on ebay. I know that Hotter size 7.5 will fit my feet and the orthotic and I got a new pair for £38 inc. postage. Not bad. They fit perfectly.

As long as we don't get bumped off, one by one! (although that sounds more like Agatha Christie...)

We could start a club ( The Plum Boot Club) sounds like a good Sherlock Holmes story.

I like the idea of dark plum boots as well. Thanks, loopy, that may well be the one I was thinking of, will have a look in a mo.

Duo (it's been renamed) used to offer various calf widths. They had a shop in Bath [Ana* but I'm not sure if it's still there.

I'd love a pair of long plum or navy boots....

It's so tempting to buy online, but I really have to try boots on, they come in so many styles/fittings, and I don't really know until I see and feel them on me.There's a lot of plum colour around at the moment, so would really like them( even if not as versatile as black.)

There is a website where you can order different calf width in their boots, I had a look at it last year but I can't remember what the make was...

I have slim calves too, anno, and eve the standard fit boots usually gape around the top.

I still miss the pair I had in pram-pushing days - black leather, knee-high, zip-up, fleece lined, very, very comfy and bought at the Co-op. Have been looking for a similar pair for forty years. Nothing has ever compared. My favourite Gabor fleece-lined ankle boots have finally fallen apart, after about 12 years so have ordered some Hotter ones in the hope that they will fit me as their shoes usually do. I have a pair of wide fitting knee-highs with little heels, but wide feet don't necessarily mean fat calves and mine are still reasonably slim, so those boots don't have many outings.

I want some too, lowish heel but not flat (can't walk in those) and 3/4 length. I have enough ankle boots, and a couple of knee high boots that I hardly ever wear because I think they only look right with skirts on me...

Me too. low heeled/flat leather, about 3/4 high, plum or tan. I also just come across what I want because I'm hard to fit.
Sizing is my problem as I have skinny feet and heels. Insoles help but my heels want to walk up out of the boot as there is so much room at the back. It would be nice to have boots that fit properly rather than wearing 2 pair of thick socks to fill up the space. I've been looking on line for something with laces that would give a good fit without looking like I'm wearing my dgd's boots. I buy lots on line but wouldn't actually buy boots or shoes, in particular because of my fitting issues.
