Beige!

I went for my flu jab yesterday. In the waiting room were rows of similar aged patients, all in shades of beige! At the age of nearly 70, I would never consider wearing the colour. I stood out somewhat in black jeans with a brightly coloured checked shirt.
What shades do you feel suit your colouring, and do you wear the dreaded beige?smile

I am off to rip my jeans grin

Ah, but the colour of that coat is 'beige' to me, and looks lovely! 'Camel' in my mind is darker and more sort of gingerish...grin

It just goes to show how many interpretations there are of certain colours.

Or with ripped jeans?

Oh!
Well, I didn't wear it last year (or the year before come to think of it) so perhaps it should pace off to the charity shop grin

It cost so much .....
I am an old lady ....
You can make it look classy and smart with a pashmina .....
Can't you?

Ana Mon 26-Oct-15 20:28:02

I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for 'beige' now! As Anzza says, there's light, creamy beige and dull, brownish beige. I really don't like 'camel', it looks very old-ladyish to me!

rosequartz Mon 26-Oct-15 20:15:15

I have a classy camel coat, rubysong
And a pink one
And a red one
And a black one

Not extravagant, they are years old apart from the black one which I bought last year as everything seemed so bright grin

Pearls near the face light you up!But if wearing a 'string of pearls' wear them with something very up to date( as opposed to a twinset.) grin

Alea Sat 24-Oct-15 21:07:36

Classic, not to say classy, is the word, not old fashioned.

Galen Sat 24-Oct-15 20:52:00

Pearls! Old fashioned?
Don't be silly!

Maggiemaybe Sat 24-Oct-15 19:59:37

I think pearls are flattering too, LuckyDucky, though I suppose it all depends what they're worn with. I certainly like to wear mine, and both DD1 and I have some faux (I think!) vintage ones that were left in DMIL's jewellery box, which we love.

Coolgran65 Sat 24-Oct-15 16:39:50

I just love pearl earrings and have all shapes and sizes (Asda).
Good ones get brought out on high days and holidays.

NotTooOld Sat 24-Oct-15 15:49:19

LuckyDucky - my grown up daughter tells me that pearls are very ageing but I disagree. I think pearls can be very flattering, so I wear my faux pearl earrings a lot and my faux pearl necklace occasionally.

DH once bought me a camel coat as a shock surprise present. It made me look like a corpse. I quickly changed it for a nice aubergine one. He has promised never to buy me clothes without me being there.
I had my colours done some years ago and was amazed when the lady started by saying "pink!" as soon as I walked in. I couldn't believe it, I had never worn pink in my life but she was right and now I have lots of bright colours. It is true that wearing the right colours improves one's mood.

LuckyDucky Sat 24-Oct-15 00:59:02

I own up to one cotton beige sweater and sees the light of day twice in a summer.

My hair colour was brunette now it's a mix of white, blonde and er . . beige / pale caramel. My scalp won't stand any dye on it.

I'm changing my wardrobe, I'm concerned about wearing colours under or near my face.

My purchases so far

Pale pink sweater X X (will give it to a charity shop)
Green tick
Tan tick
black tick
pale lemon tick

BTW, I have a pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings. I wear them one at a time. Are they considered - by all - old fashioned?

Thank you for reading this. Any thoughts?

Nonnie Tue 20-Oct-15 13:25:31

Proably jump on it, bless them they are not very sartorial.

rosequartz Mon 19-Oct-15 19:58:15

Will they accept it?

Nonnie Mon 19-Oct-15 17:26:32

Charity shop?

Ana Mon 19-Oct-15 17:17:36

Fight it, Nonnie, fight it! shock

rosesarered Mon 19-Oct-15 17:14:30

Noooooooooooooooo!

Nonnie Mon 19-Oct-15 17:02:52

Ooops, just turned out a cupboard and discovered I have a beige sweater. It's quite nice actually!

rosequartz Mon 19-Oct-15 13:46:45

Maggiemaybe shock lol

Maggiemaybe Mon 19-Oct-15 13:45:04

Well, rosequartz, I made the mistake of googling "Hotter Donna", and had to cover my eyes and make a quick exit.

Marmight Mon 19-Oct-15 13:10:45

Some people look amazing in beige. If I wore it I would look dead. Same with yellow, pale blue, pale pink and pale green. I am more of a dark blue, purple, aubergine and deep turquoise person. I have just acquired a rather natty wool 3/4 coat in those colours wink

rosequartz Mon 19-Oct-15 13:09:12

I am going to type 'Donna Hotter Shoes' to see if the advert comes back again wink
