Leggings

I am a jeggings virgin. I bought a pair from Dorothy Perkins and someone else mentioned Max Wall came to mind, I took them back. I have a horrid shape which is apple. I am a 18/20 with fat waist but my legs are thinner. I'd love to wear some but I don't think it is possible. Because trousers will be bigger at the top of the leg, although they are too big for me they make me look more in proportion. I'd welcome advice from anyone else with this type of problem that has overcome it and wear jegging/treggings.

I do not have the legs for leggings. I also have quite short legs and almost anything like that tends to wrinkle badly. As I always had with tights when they first came out.
They don't seem to make such things with regard to hip measurements and leg length. Not for me.

... that applies at any age. My sister rarely if ever wore trousers, let alone leggings simply because she thought they made her look broad in the beam and squat, which to be honest, they did.

You may never be too old to wear leggings but sadly you can have legs that are too fat

You are never too old to wear leggings. I am over 70 and I still wear them. I wear M&S jeggings and Sainsbury's leggings. I always buy good quality thick ones. My favourites are some black and white tweed effect leggings with a turn-up that I bought in Sainsbury's back in September.

Tried, and failed to like leggings or jeggings, so jeans or boot cut trousers for me.Or a long-ish skirt with opaque tights and boots.

I resisted wearing leggings until last year as I have never liked my bandy legs! However, I reached the conclusion that I can wear what I feel comfortable in as I'm sure nobody else cares.
I have several pairs bought from various places, but the cosiest are fleecy lined ones from Primark.

If you're looking like Max Wall your tops aren't long enough, pinknanny. Get yourself some longline tunics and sweaters!

I'm 62 and just started wearing leggings but at home only and with a long tunic or jumper. M & S ones seem to have most stretch and wash well.

How old is too old to wear leggings ?
My youngest d snorts when I wear them & Oh said I looked like Max Wall !

I have gone off my leggings a bit since I started wearing jeggings, I feel more comfortable in the jeggings, leggings a dangerous around the waist if you over indulge as you can silently be gaining weight and the waist band expands with you. Bought some great jeggings from Dorothy Perkins in their sale.

I too wear Jeggings in the winter - I have Marks ones - they mainly have black and I wanted a navy pair - eventually I found some in Marks but instead of being£20 they were about£35 I think - but the quality is great. When very cold I wear the thin ones underneath like thermals.

Next and M & S are my favourite for legging and I have had some good ones from Peacocks,I too also buy jeggings for winter as they are that bit warmer and fit well into my boots.Its worth paying that bit extra for good leggings and jeggings as there is nothing worse than those see through ones that you see on sale they tend to sag in all the wrong places

I wear jeggings too,they tend to be a bit thicker which is great now winter is coming. Got mine from next and they are a great fit.

I was in Tesco this morning, and couldn't resist buying a couple of tunics. They must be new in as I didn't see them the last time I was in. Just tried them on, and they are perfect with my jeggings. Wow, at last I have caught up with current fashion trends.

Matalan's are just fine and quite thick

Thanks all for advice and will give your suggestions a try. Being 5'3" myself I too often find trousers far too long. Leggings, tunics and boots cover a multitude of sins! Meant to reply earlier but have had grandchildren all day so busy making pumpkin lanterns and keeping everyone occupied on a rainy day.

Yes, Sainsbury's are fine. Phase Eight winter ones are really good too. You need to hold them up and stretch them slightly in front of a light. If you can see through them too easily - don't buy them, unless you are going to wear them as a substitute for tights, which is their other very useful purpose. Under boots with socks, they never fall down in the crutch in the awful way tights do.

I buy mine n Sainsbury's. Great fit, I'm only 5' 3". They are a perfect length, you can't do better.
