Quality of Next clothing

Agreed. Next clothes are going the same way as M&S clothes, nasty cheap fabrics and not very stylish. I've wary of ordering clothes off the internet as I like to try them on first but we have a Whitestuff and a Fat Face locally and I've started going there. They are both more expensive than Next and M&S but their stuff is better quality, better designed and not boring. I'll just have to buy less of it!

I think you have to be choosy with Next. I find their styles to be rather unstylish, but occasionally I find a gem of a top and I will wear it to death.
I have not personally noticed anything coming apart but that's probably because I don't buy much from there.
I'm wearing a top this morning which I love though and have washed it many times.

When I wash it I hang it on a hanger to dry and never need to iron it. Ironing ruins clothes over time IMHO

Last week I also bought 2 pair of jeans from Next. Although fitting wise it was good but the thread used for its stitching was of very inferior quality. While trying one of them, it was completely torn from left side. I immediately called Next customer service here qwikfix.co.uk/next-contact-number/ and they forwarded my call to the concerned department. They heard me and asked me to send those pairs. I did accordingly and they send me the fresh pair.

I'm liking a lot of what I see in Joules. The quality and styling are good and the prices reasonable.

I've had some nice clothes from Next but equally had some that were just rubbish and were only worn a few times before going in the charity bag - this was mostly tops which went very thin and out of shape. I often go in and look but more often than not walk out without buying.

I've been into Next several times to look at clothes I've seen in their adverts. They always seem disappointing, nasty cheap feeling fabrics (though possibly not as bad as M&S!)

I have had a look at Uniqluo and quite like their clothes. I have also closed my next account after informing them that I was not impressed with the quality of their clothing. They've sent me a letter of aknowlegement but that was it.

When Next was launched, I thought their clothes were absolutely wonderful, really great for the office as well as dressing down. I remember going to Australia early '80s completely togged out in Next clothing and having several people over there ask me where I'd bought certain items I wore. Of late I think their clothes look cheap and nasty, but they aren't particularly cheap at all. I'd rather get sale items in places like East o Hobbs or pay more at say Jigsaw, also places like Uniqluo do good separates for not a lot. I don't go into Next for anything nowadays.

I have just bought a lovely down jacket for spring with a Liberty print lining, 2 pairs of high waisted smart shape jeans and a Liberty print top from Uniqglo. Brilliant prices and quality. I especially love the jeans which are really super comfortable and fit well. They have a Liberty range , among others, at the moment . Definitely worth a look .

It some times depends on the type of cloth. Have you brought this fact before company's official. I also passed through this stage four months back and discussed the matter with my friend he told me to visit www.fixithere.net/next-uk-customer-services-contact-number/. From here I have taken customer service contact number and called them. They connected my call to the dealing official of the company. I brought this fact before him. After hearing me, he asked me to return the jeans with bill and told me that they will send fresh piece with in week. I did accordingly and with in one week, I recieved the fresh piece. You must contact them now. Hope they will help you.

I've noticed that the fabrics in many brands have become poor quality and mostly synthetic. Even reliables stores like John Lewis. I nearly sent some pyjamas back, expected to be cotton jersey but mostly some synthetic rubbish.
I'm begining to think there's a worldwide shortage of narural fabrics. Even natural fabrics by the yard are hard to get hold of.

I agree too, especially with Jane, that it went downhill after George left. I used to buy smart tops for work every season , but now it's just rubbish. I'll have a look at Uniqlo I think.

How I agree with you! I used to love Next clothes. I still wear my all time favourite long black linen dress, which is about 17 years old and still going strong. It's fantastic for any occasion.

I was talking to my daughter recently about the quality of Next clothing. The stitching on the lining of a leather jacket of hers had opened up.
I bought a tunic that shrunk by about 2 sizes on a delicate wash and I had to take something back because after a couple of wears, two tiny holes appeared in the fabric. Very disappointing!

Yes joy heattech is fab, very warm and good for layering.
I've also got a shirt, shorts and a really good black winter mac with a detachable quilted lining from them.

Yes, I'm another Uniqlo fan. The range is quite limited but the clothes are well-designed in my opinion and excellent quality. Their 'HEATTECH' range is soooooo cosy for cold creatures like me. However, I do find I have to go up a size, the clothes seem quite small compared with other popular brands.

Me too teetime have bought a few nice bits for the home from them.

Next was really good when it first came out but in the last several years its been like supermarket clothing thin and shoddy and the styling is terrible. Haven't bought anything there in years. In contrast I really like the homewares.

Yes, it's definitely gone downhill in terms of quality. I bought a dress that literally fell apart at the seams, the material frayed away from the stitching and the seam 'allowance' was about 1/4", ridiculous!
I did get a refund but won't shop there again.

I think the quality and the design went down years ago, when George Davies left.
