Work party outfit - what do you think of this?

Work party is coming up soon and everything in my wardrobe is unsuitable. Well, my one other winter evening dress is anyway - it's not like I have rails upon rails of options!
I've seen this on East website (they've currently got 30% off). Even so, it's a little on the pricey side. I was hoping to get away with something around the £50 mark... What do you think?

It's lovely!

That's right up my street Heirofthedog. Smart, dressy but not too flouncy. smile

Like it a lot! If I had an office party to go to I would be elbowing you out of the way in the stampede grin
EAST are my favourite "go to" label these days (outfit for DD's wedding next month)

Lovely! It's very classy - a bit of glitz but not too much.

I've got OH's do coming up too. I splashed out on this dress because I have two weddings to go to next year and thought it would be good for all. Although I think black is great, I always feel like I need a bit of colour and green suits my colouring.

I like that, and it's clothes like that which make me wish I was six inches taller (I'd settle for four at a pinch!). I can't carry things like that off.

You've got me looking now Heir! I'm loving that velvet is back in fashion. It's got such a great, cosy, wintery feel.
What do you of this? (Also 20% off at Monsoon at the moment).

Just figured our how to add a pic. Here's the one I was talking about.

All of you - very appropriate outfits. Only sorry I don't have an excuse to buy something new for the 'festive' season.

Heirof the Dog - it's like a Salwar Kameez, the Indian trouser outfit.
I keep thinking I'll get one, because you can get them fairly cheap.
Depends what fabric they're made of, there's such a lot of cheap rubbish about now.

Lovely outfits, but I would need to wear a camisole under the V necked dress - I am always self-conscious if I show too much chest. For years I've mostly worn black, but I find that as I get older I'm wearing more colourful clothes and even surprising myself. Today I'm wearing a skirt that's beige with muted pastel checks, beige blouse - and cerise tights and cardigan. I catch sight of myself in the mirror and it takes me a moment to adjust to the colour.

I've managed to buy some really lovely things from the charity shops recently (need to replace wardrobe as now in size 14/16 thanks to HFLC diet); skirts from Joules and Principles, cardigan from Laura Ashley and trousers tops and jackets from Gerry Weber - all as new. smile

I like it - it looks comfortable and smart - what more could you want?

Deedaa Thu 19-Nov-15 21:15:05

Looks very nice, and could be worn again and again.

Coolgran65 Thu 19-Nov-15 21:39:49

Op - exactly what I'd go for.

Like the others also smile

It's very nice. Bust the budget a little here as the outfit you picture is very versatile and would 'do' for Christmas and afterwards too dressed up or dressed down. Go for it definitely!

bluekarma Fri 20-Nov-15 10:12:02

Loving the East dress. Go for it x

townie Fri 20-Nov-15 11:53:32

Like OP's outfit. And am a great Whistles fan so think that dress would be a good investment.

winifred01 Fri 20-Nov-15 13:04:11

And it has sleeves! Most women should wear sleeves IMO.

paun Fri 20-Nov-15 17:09:02

Heir orthodox, I think it's a lovely outfit, modern and elegant and looks as though it will be comfortable to wear. Go for it!

paun Fri 20-Nov-15 17:09:55

Now I see why I ought to have checked my message!

Nana3 Fri 20-Nov-15 23:25:02

Do the leggings come with the dress? I think it looks a bit fussy around the front of the bodice. Sorry Heirofthedog.

Eloethan Sat 21-Nov-15 01:35:05

I really like it heirofthedog.
