Mine always seem to cut into my middle. Does anyone have any comfortable ones to recommend?

Never wear the things, can't stand them! OK, I might have to give in on the very rare occasion when I'm forced to wear a dress or skirt in the winter, but the last time I recall doing that was 2 years ago (funeral).

I love John Lewis tight because they come in different sizes waist-wise and height.
Their opaque ones are bliss to wear.

Autograph Velvet Touch are lovely (Black Opaque 40 denier). £8 a pair but a couple of pairs last me all winter with careful handwashing.

Primark, I buy mine from there. Find them ok and I'm xl size.

Awful things, never wear them. Tried hold-ups once, much more comfy but didn't hold up very well. Destined to wear trousers or jeans I suppose, not a bad thing with my legs. Sorry Gogogran, not much help to you.

Wolford. They are very expensive but worth it. I've had mine for years and buy one or two new pairs each winter & summer.

I have not worn tights since the day I retired over 12 years ago. I only wear trousers now. Sorry, I also am of little use. When I did buy them I bought them in BHS good size and colours and unlike Waitrose, not 7 denier which is what my latest hold ups are. Not sure if anybody told the buyer that it is winter.

Tights are dreadful things. I live in my trousers. I bought some new black ones for my Dad's funeral, nobody was bothered in the slightest. My sister has difficulty with trousers, and wears crotchless tights but I'm afraid I don't know where she buys them.

I haven't worn tights for some time now (various reasons.) But when I did, I used to cut out the diamond-shaped crotch inside their joining seam.It always worked, never "ran".
These were heavyweight tights though, I don't think the gusset is separate in fine tights.

Never wear them in Winter its jeggings or trousers in Summer I go bare legged sorry not much use to you.

rosequartz Mon 07-Dec-15 19:55:22

I bought some heavier weight ones from Debenhams; one pair is OK, but too thick unless it's very cold. The other pair, which are finer, won't come right up my legs and I am not tall!

I will have to wear tights a couple of times over the next two weeks because I will be wearing a skirt but I don't want to.

The title of this thread is an oxymoron. Tights are the work of the devil! grin

rosequartz Mon 07-Dec-15 22:26:39

I am allowed to wear trousers tomorrow then, when I go out for lunch - please say yes smile

Marmight Mon 07-Dec-15 22:34:01

Hate them; the waist always rolls down - I must be the wrong shape.
Roseq of course you can wear trousers. Permission granted wink. I wore trousers to DD's wedding.....

rosequartz Mon 07-Dec-15 22:35:03

Thank you.

Oh, the relief!

yogagran Mon 07-Dec-15 22:55:02

Same as janeainsworth up there ^^, I now have Wolford tights on the very rare occasions that I wear them. A friend recommended them and after my initial misgivings because of the cost, I now think that they're good value as they certainly last much better than cheap ones and they're comfy too

Never wear the things - or socks either come to that. Trousers/jeggings with sandals or my trusty Uggs dependent on the weather.

Ballet flats as well.
