Designer handbags vs high street

That's great granoffour I can't wait to send the link to my DDiL.

I find it completely impossible to imagine why anyone would buy a designer handbag - it is so far removed from my thinking and attitudes!

My daughter showed me the Mulberry ad - had to giggle. Might offend very religious sorts, apologies!

About 15 years ago, I won £100 on the staff lottery at work. I spent it on a leather Ameribag healthy back bag. I still love it and use it every day, but would never have spent that amount without the win.
If I ever need a new bag it will most certainly not be a designer one!

I do like bags (and shoes) and love the feel & smell of good leather but I wouldn't buy anything because of the name.

Sometimes nice things just call to me, I don't always respond.

I bought DD a Radley last Christmas. I have a High St one in the same style. I wouldn't pay X amount extra for the name.

I have a Radley for 'best' which I received as a present. Rest of the time it's usually Next bags or my Cath Kidston oilcloth shopper.

Best bag I have is Clark's shoe shop. Had it for years and was a great buy.

I use a leather handbag but it was as cheap as I could find-certainly no "name" on it. I would/could not be bothered even if I was rolling in dosh.

The criteria for me for a handbag/shoulder bag is it must be leather and a price I can afford so I have 2 Modalu's (one very old) which I can get a lap top in and a small Radley. I would like a DKNY but they are a black material which I quite like but it means they are not as pricey as others. I have a very nice untitled leather one I bought on holiday in Italy a few years ago at less than half what it would have been if it had a label on it- I save that for best. It is fag keep changing over so I don't have lots of bags.

I have three handbags, one black, one navy blue, one tan, all gifts. If I need another colour, I borrow!

( Just remembered, I bought a royal blue one for my nephew's wedding. I wonder where it is !)

I have got an Orla Kieley (sp?) shopper though. Only use it as an overnight bag though. Too good to put shopping in.

My DDiL has a fabulous Mulberry over the shoulder bag she was bought as a present last year. There is definitely something very special about it and I do try it on occasionally just to see if I would suit being rich.
