I usually wear Knowing by Estée Lauder which I love. I'd like to find another perfume, have been out today, but have come back empty handed as in the end they all smelt similar.
What is your favourite? I'm looking for something not sweet or flowery.

janeainsworth shock I just meant I don't wear any. (because it gives me a headache)

And I don't post on every thread. Far from it! hmm

Lillie Sat 06-Feb-16 18:40:14

But I'm sure you were all pronouncing it correctly!

Lillie Sat 06-Feb-16 18:38:25

Sorry ladies (x 4 or 5), I'm a French teacher and Chanel is spelt with one "n" not Channel. It's the surname of Coco Chanel. Please don't tell me off for correcting!

Thanks for that Jane. I'll ask for the original next time. It had a more citrus smell than the current version.

None sadly I am allergic.

Lillie Sat 06-Feb-16 18:24:41

Another vote for Chanel Cristalle. Also Estée Lauder, Pleasures.

TerriBull Sat 06-Feb-16 18:22:55

janeainsworth - do have a look, but as much as I loved Jolie Madame not quite enough to pay the prices quoted hmm

Greyduster Sat 06-Feb-16 18:22:01

Mostly Jo Malone Vetyver. Very citrusy and understated. I also like Samsara by Guerlain. I used to wear L'air du Temps - haven't had that for ages.

janeainsworth Sat 06-Feb-16 18:21:49

Don't look then jingl confused
You don't have to read every thread!

granjura Sat 06-Feb-16 18:21:21

Je Reviens was great too.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 18:18:34

Don't. Gives me a headache.

janeainsworth Sat 06-Feb-16 18:16:57

Thanks terribull I'll have a look and if appropriate put in an advance birthday request hint wink

TerriBull Sat 06-Feb-16 18:11:25

janeainsworth, I also loved Jolie Madame by Balmain, I believe you can get it via Amazon, I've checked from time to time but it's an arm and a leg sadly sad recently bought Femme by Rochas on line, another perfume that you can't buy in the shops anymore, but that was relatively cheap. I'm a fan of a lot of the older perfumes, I do like Channel No. 5 and Coco I usually redeem my Boots points from time to for one of those. Other perfumes I like are Eau Des Merveilles and 24 Faubourg both by Hermes.

Marelli Sat 06-Feb-16 18:08:45

Coco Mademoiselle. For every day, though, I use Lidl's 'Suddenly' - it's more or less an absolute match. smile

janeainsworth Sat 06-Feb-16 18:00:17

You can still get the original Miss Dior, J52, but you have to ask specifically for it.

wot Sat 06-Feb-16 17:59:09

I used to love Je Revien by Worth but it's really changed now and smells like cats wee wee....yuk!

J52 Sat 06-Feb-16 17:38:03

My mother wore Ma Griffe. A few years ago I bought a bottle, the smell was the same

I do hate it when the makers change the formula and perfumes smell different.

Dior have done this with Miss Dior and it does not smell like the 70s version.

janeainsworth Sat 06-Feb-16 17:35:46

The original Miss Dior.
Sisley No 2.
My all time favourite was Jolie Madame by Balmain but they don't make it any moresad

granjura Sat 06-Feb-16 17:33:54

I find most modern perfumes just too sweet and sickly, I have to say. I used to wear 'Ma Griffe' when I was young. Now is just wear Yves Rocher 'Verbena' eau de toilette. Simple and fresh.

J52 Sat 06-Feb-16 17:32:09

Miss Dior, Channel - Coco & No5.

Recently I looked for something on offer at the duty free, just to wear on holiday. I came across Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue. It's lovely, flowery and fresh, with a hint of Lilly of the Valley.

It tends to be on offer in the perfume shops in shopping centres. I'm glad I found it by chance.

I love Mitsouko (another Guerlain one) but Mr P hates it!

I do find that I have different perfumes for different times of year, and also of course day and evening.

Channel Cristalle has good crisp smell, Dioressence is sort of "powdery", always gets compliments.

I used to be asked what my perfume was when wearing Estee Lauder Cinnabar, but to me that is definitely a winter perfume, and for evening.

Margsus Sat 06-Feb-16 17:28:31

Either Rive Gauche by Yves St Laurent, or VIP 212 by Carolina Herrera
