What perfume do you wear?

I like the lighter perfumes and colognes by Liz Earle --there is a new Rose one out and By L'occitanlots of choice if you go in store Verbena is lemony and uplifting.

grannyinmypocket...yes I can remember Kiku...wasn't the box bright yellow? Faberge did a very spicy one, as well...I seem to recall that it was in animal print type packaging.

Does anyone remember Envol - can't recall who made it but I just loved it - was in a beautiful shimmering blue box. It became harder and harder to find and then I couldn't get it in this country any more - haven't seen it for probably thirty five years.

Youth Dew was my first proper 'expensive' perfume and I wore it for a good few years.

Chanel 'Chance au fraiche' is lovely and crisp, Joe Malone 'Lime basil and mandarin, and issy myakie, also calvin kline perfumes are quite good for every day wear. when younger it was aqua manda, Charlie, Yardley moondrops and youth dew

HOOLAHOOP was the perfume you couldn't remember called Lou Lou. It was quite strong

All time favourite was les Belles by Nina ricci, I don't think they found it anymore. Just looked on Amazon £250 small spray. I will be going without. Have at the moment Chanel mam

PS In my jewellery box I have a teeny weeny bottle of Californian Poppy - it was the first perfume my father gave to my mother, looks like it might date from the early 1940s.

I always fall back to Ma Griffe. But I also have Blue Grass, Fidgi (Guy Laroche), La Perla, Estee Lauder's Youth Dew and Azuree. I have used and liked Lancome's O and Lancome's Vetiver (for men). I also have an unopened present of Coco from my daughters. Some perfumes start to annoy me by the end of the day. Linda in Nancy Mitford's The Pursuit of Love used Guerlain's l'apres l'ondee, I'd love to try it.

Femme by Rochas for everyday. Chanel No.5, Laughter by Space NK, and Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey for special occasions and Diorissimo for the summer, light and floral.

I have used Anais Anais for years. I could do with trying others which I have done a few times but come back to AA. Boring or what!!!

One other thought; who buys you your perfume?

It's only recently that my allergies have permitted me to wear some perfumes again and I've been using Coco Mademoiselle and Chanel's Allure Sensuelle; both smell really good on me, but very differently to how they smell on my daughter.
I do applaud the Canadian ruling having suffered for many years by needing to leave places where other people's perfume has affected me and caused me to have asthma attacks.
Perfumes can take me right back to different places/ages in my life. I was given a bottle of Opium the summer I fell in love with my wonderful husband and if I smell it now the association is still immediate. It's too strong for me to wear now. Youth Dew, White Linen and Poison all bring to mind different people or times in my life.

Was it White Fire hulahoop? I remember my cousin buying me some for my birthday many moons ago and I thought I was the bees knees when I wore it!

I like perfumes by Guerlain. My present one is La Petite Robe Noire.

Pittcity, I don't like Chanel No 5, either. My mum used to wear it when we went out and I associate it with being car sick!

I'm currently using Chloe, the one with a green ribbon. For summer I love Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. It's nice and light and I wore it all the time when we lived in the tropics where anything heavy was awful.

My favourite for winter was Ferre by Ferre but it's been discontinued for quite a long time now.

Does anyone remember a perfume in a tiny dark red bottle with pointed top I wish I could remember name I loved it and everyone used to comment on it

Jo Malone English pear and freesia. I sometimes use this with her Sage and sea salt body cream.

I used to love all the Rocha perfumes, particularly Mystere, but the company was bought by one of the multi-nationals and they discontinued lots. DH loves to use Yardley Gold after shave - but similarly Yardley was taken over by a multi-national. Perfumes/after shaves are never quite the same.

lynnekalan, I too live in Canada. I used to love using perfume, and so initially I resented what I saw as legislation intruding on my personal freedom. However, I am now totally a fan of this ruling. I have been in the theatre when someone came back at interval after washing her hands, and she applied the strongest smelling hand cream. Both myself and someone else a few rows away had to leave our seats, the smell was just too overpowering. Strong smells can really affect a sensitive persons physical and mental health, which is why the ban is strictly applied in hospitals here. Sadly...... I wear perfume at home now. It's for my pleasure.

At the moment I love Marc Jacobs 'Daisy' and others say that it smells nice on me.some perfumes smell like cat pee on me!

Chanel Exclusifs - both Coromandel and Bois des Iles, plus Chanel No5 (but not all at the same time!) After a few weeks, your nose gets used to the scent, and so I use a different one every month. Get lots of 'mmm, lovely perfume, what is it?' comments

Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden. I have worn it for so many years that I can't smell it on me any more. I have asked on here for suggestions of alternatives, tried several but never found the right one for me. I just need something that smells clean and fresh!

I like Ange ou Demon by Givenchy and a friend bought me Flower by Kenzo for Christmas as she knows I can't stand sweet, cloying over powering smells.
