Has anyone bought clothes from this comany?
www.nicolelewis.co.uk/catalogue/trousers/
A lot of their things look very "nunty" but I need some trousers and they seem ok. And not expensive.
The choice of clothes where we live isn't good and also not cheap, so I tend to shop online.

I wondered where Kirsty Allsop bought her clothes grin

Charleygirl Fri 12-Feb-16 12:52:37

Tizliz I am not sure that I want to know- they are horrendous and I think that her dresses are too short. She resembles a sack of potatoes tied in the middle.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 12-Feb-16 13:36:11

I know what I like about them! They are "frocks"! They're definitely "frocks".

midgey Fri 12-Feb-16 14:00:51

Bet they are made from crimplene!

Welshwife Fri 12-Feb-16 14:04:58

They are what a friend's husband used to call 'washing dresses' - ie. Clothes worn by our mothers when doing the housework.

Charleygirl Fri 12-Feb-16 15:44:06

My mother would not have worn anything remotely like this. She wore smart clothes and when they were old and had been replaced, then she would wear them for housework. Not even my grandmother would have worn anything like those hideous monstrosities and she was never fashionable.

Jalima Fri 12-Feb-16 17:36:15

Charleygirl grin no, nor mine!! DM liked Windsmoor and Alexon and was daring enough to buy a trouser suit when they first came in!!

I was just thinking about a post on another thread where someone was asking for easy to get on trousers and skirts for an elderly mother in a care home hmm
I hope I am compos mentis enough to tell anyone that I will not wear them.

TriciaF I think the Bon Marche jeans are comfortable and my M&S needlecord trousers are very comfy, straight legged, not tight but not at all baggy.

Luckygirl Fri 12-Feb-16 18:06:11

They have a hint of Margaret Thatcher about them.

Jalima Fri 12-Feb-16 18:09:12

Surely not!

Love her or loathe her she never wore stuff like that; smart 'power-dressing' suits, pussy cat bow blouses (which *were fashionable, lots of people wore them) and pearls - probably all very expensive.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 12-Feb-16 18:13:09

this one's really nice!

It's so.....retro! I love it.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 12-Feb-16 18:13:37

I want it.

Galen Fri 12-Feb-16 18:37:34

jing have you lost the plot?

MiniMouse Fri 12-Feb-16 18:39:38

jingl have you been skipping your medication? wink

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 12-Feb-16 18:41:34

No! It's pretty! It's just a shirtwaister for goodness sake. I used to like those.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 12-Feb-16 18:48:40

I just went on Gransnet via Internet Explorer (usually use firefox) and I got the pink sqaure. Twice. And I signed in with my email and password. But it doesn't acknowledge the fact that I have signed in. ie I get pages rather than the one long thread I usually have, and threads the wrong way up (factory settings)

It's a bit of a puzzle, but it doesn't matter.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 12-Feb-16 18:48:57

Wrong thread

trisher Fri 12-Feb-16 19:07:49

Just watched Vera on catch up and she was wearing one of these dresses I am sure. So it will be you and her jing Oh and Kirstie of course!

annodomini Fri 12-Feb-16 19:12:49

It looks very like one my mother wore 60 years ago.

Jalima Fri 12-Feb-16 19:26:17

No! It's pretty! It's just a shirtwaister for goodness sake.
A shirtwaister has to be made of lovely cotton in a plainish colour and very expensive doesn't it?

Tizliz Sat 13-Feb-16 11:40:00

But it doesn't tell you what the material is, I hate manmade fabrics.

Charleygirl Sat 13-Feb-16 15:05:24

I think that there should be a few GNs queuing up at Specsavers and Tizliz and I will not be with them.

petra Sat 13-Feb-16 17:44:22

Did anyone look further on the site? There are some lovely waistcoats. Not.
I had to put the 'not' incase anyone thought I might wear one.

Ana Sat 13-Feb-16 17:53:10

And although it states that the dresses come in 'long' or 'short' the only option given is 'short'...

The long-sleeved dresses all seem to be made of polyester, but it doesn't give any information about the short-sleeved ones.

The knitwear is just atrocious! shock

Purpledaffodil Sun 21-Feb-16 19:45:22

On the home page it says "elderly ladies dresses". No apostrophe of course. Says it all really.sad

After all your advice, I got more adventurous and have bought these:

They arrived today and I'm pleased with them.
