Well - we are all different Alea and like different things thankfully -- it is what makes Gransnet so interesting ! -- I take it no one has bought a Hulanicki bag yet so I need to try and see one - - or maybe wait and look in TKMax in a couple of years grin

I googled Tula bags and am suffering from bag envy, they are lovely.

tiredoldwoman , I have quite a collection of Tula bags bought on Ebay, usually late at night when I'm at my most susceptible. I don't think I have ever spent more than £10 including post and packing. Good hunting!

Ha ha clicked not clocked!!!

Well against my better nature I clocked the Peonyandmoore link (why, it smacked of advertising) and think the bronze tote is ghastly. There are so many nice tote/bucket/backpack/satchel styles out there as well as what you might call regular handbags, cross body bags and shoulder bags, I cannot imagine who would want this one.

Apart from specialist bags; evening bags and shopping bags, i have only two handbags, one for summer, one for winter. My winter bag is a carpet bag, from the company of the same name. It is at least 10 years old or possibly 15, and it goes with everything. Last year I sent it back to the company to have a new zip fitted. Even after all these years people still comment on it admire it and say how unusual it is. What is more, new zip aside, it is showing no signs of wear.

I once found a wonderful Missoni dress in TK Maxx but even they wanted over £300 for it so it stayed on the rail.

I'm currently using a rather nice big bag with lots of buckles and chains that I found in a charity shop. It's just big enough to carry some baby bits and pieces when I've got GS2 with me.

mature I don't buy clothes from TX Maxx but the bags are well displayed and that is the only place I could afford to buy a good make leather handbag (eg Osprey, other names escape me, one beginning with R?).
annsixty if my bag lasts as long it will probably outlive me grin

JalimaI bought a Jane Shilton black leather bag 25 years ago. It is small, a lovely shape with a very thin shoulder strap. It cost £25 and is still used as an evening or event bag. It is still very smart and has never worn. Good luck with yours.

I have never had any luck in TKMax - I always seem to find only end of lines and old fugly styles that the manufacturer was left with. I run out of patience rummaging through racks and racks of endless clothes too - - same on E Bay although I have had one or two items that were worth keeping -- loads that weren't.! - - which is why I like to invest in a proper leather bag every now and then.!

Jalima I think we're on same page!!grin

The only Twiggy, Quant or Biba item I have ever bought has been a pair of trousers from Twiggy's collection at M&S grin

I like a nice quality bag but recently find that I prefer a bag to be as lightweight as possible. For day to day use I like a messenger bag, and also have a couple leather back packs which are great for shopping especially to go through the rails in TKMaxx - hands free smile

Recently I've taken a liking to the Kipling bags, superb organisation and really lightweight. Today on ebay I bought a Kipling back pack to use, in particular, on holiday. (It converts to an ordinary grab bag, and also to a messenger bag) Retail price is £79 and I got it for £30 including a wallet and the trademark monkey keyring. I can't be bothered with the monkey and will resell the monkey on ebay, and possibly the wallet also. They will sell quickly for around £6 or £7 each, offsetting the £30 cost of the bag.

I bought a good, nearly new Tula handbag on eBay. My everyday one these days is from TK Maxx - I'm fussy about strap length and do like to try before I buy.

maturefloosy I bought a very nice little Jane Shilton bag last year to use in the evenings - not an evening bag but not the overloaded leather one I lug around in the day-time smile

Jalima Wed 24-Feb-16 22:02:16

I buy my handbags from TK Maxx

I would imagine these are much better than the HOF ones. Their version of Biba has nothing to do with Barbara Hulanicki at all. Sadly finances won't stretch to them.

maturefloosy Wed 24-Feb-16 16:26:47

tiredoldwoman - I know - -seems a lot but I try to only buy good leather bags and they last me for years -- I think Tula are still made or maybe they were taken over by Jane Shilton - -good quality leather bag makers both of them .

tiredoldwoman Wed 24-Feb-16 16:12:54

£295 for a bag !! Yikes !! (I grudge 5p for a plastic carrier! )
Nice looking bag though .
I used to buy Tula , I'll have to Google to see if they still make them .

Being a follower of Twiggy Quant and Biba in the 60's and 70's I like the look of one of the new Barbara Hulanicki handbags from Peony and Moore. Has anyone bought one and if so are they better than the Biba range in HOF last year as I thought those were horrid. grin
If I can I will post a link - - may take a while. . . . . . .

Also like this one - London Tote - like Marmite I think - like or hate!!

Would welcome comments if anyone has bought one please -
