Where do you buy your underwear?

Although my name suggests otherwise I am far from tiny. Been a bit disappointed with M&S of late. Where do you buy your smalls? And not so smalls? grin

Slogging support pants from Debenhams and a yearly ( or less) visit to Rigby and Peller for a bra. Expensive, but even never had such well fitting bras and don't make costly mistakes any more so cost effective in the long run.

Sloggi of course.

Bras buy at Bravissimo- have a fitting ,the girls ,IMO ,are very professional , I found I had been wearing the wrong size for years. They have infinite patience, best to make an appointment or go when shops are not busy, lots of branches over U K

I only like all cotton and non-wired bras and non-padded too. I have very little bosom but am quite far round to the back so 26 A or B or 38A and they do very cheap and pretty cotton ones in Asda, with pants to mix and match.

vickya Sat 19-Mar-16 10:00:15

oops that was 36 not 26

MadMaisie Sat 19-Mar-16 10:10:36

I agree with those you advised being measured for correct bra size. If you are on the generous side, I would recommend Bravissimo. You might be surprised - I walked in as a 38B/C and left as a 34F, such a good fit and so comfortable. Pants I buy wherever I happen to be.

"Who" not "you".

I used to buy bras at ASDA [where I could try them on] but I've had a mastectomy following breast cancer and cannot find anything I like for any reasonable price.

I'd love to know if anyone has found a good source of post-op bras.

Rigby & Peller if you can afford it. any of my friends who have a 'difficult' fit swear by them. I only bought one there - for my DDiL to go under the wedding dress I was making for her. They made it all great fun, and offered her the Bridget Jones knickers which I bought for her, amid gales of laughter. She then said she couldn't let my son see her in those on their wedding night. So I then bought her a very pretty thong and said slip up to your room when all the ceremonial/dinner bit is done and everyone's had a bit to drink and change into that. Cost me a fortune but worth it! R&P lightheartedly offered me a job as I guessed HMs bra size! They do it all by looking at the client, not by measuring.

I used to get all my bras at Dickins and Jones and weep for the demise of this store.

M&S always for knickers, except the ones that match my bras. I have found one that suits me perfectly in French supermarkets. I now have many in every colour possible. And they are very inexpensive, and often on offer. What a relief!

M&S for pants and usually Triumph Bra's - comfy and they last for years and if handwashed always look nice. I. keep looking at Miss Mary of Sweden as they look super comfy. These days comfort is more important than anything.
I've tried M&S bras but find they dig in and don't stay in place.

It surprises me that some are more comfortable not wearing a bra. I'm on the massive side, and so uncomfortable without support! I buy the Doreen bras, or M&S ones, but I've yet to find a bra that is perfect.

Sainsburys for bras and MnS for knickers. I recently wanted a tummy control slip and found a great one at Sainsburys for 1/3 of the MnS price! wink

I've bought M&S pure cotton pants for years and years, changing from minis to midis as middle aged spread meant there was more to contain! I've tried others but never found any as comfortable.

Bras have been a nightmare as I've 'expanded', have tried the North East's bra 'guru' (other NEasterners will know who I mean, I'm sure) and a shop recommended by my daughter (forgotten the name) but ended up with hideously uncomfortable things that never really fitted properly. Recently went to M&S at the Metro Centre and was fitted by a lovely lady who obviously knew her job (I'd done a bit of internet research before I went) and now have some well fitting and comfortable cotton underwired bras. I'm very satisfied with M&S in this particular area.

The trouble with finding something that is just perfect for you is that either it or you will have changed the next time you buy one. It's a constant struggle.

I like the Triumph Amourette range and their t-shirt bras.

Lupatria Sat 19-Mar-16 12:24:10

asda bras for me - underwired and slightly padded. they're a fantastic fit and I feel good in them ................... daren't browse in that department any more cos I can't fit any more in my drawers!!

henbane Sat 19-Mar-16 12:47:42

I used to buy M&S knickers, cotton with lycra high legs. They were comfortable & well fitting and I didn't have VPL problems.

The last time I bought some however they had changed the style - they now have side seams (far less comfortable than the old seam free ones) but worse, they have changed from a wide to a narrow elastic waistband and they keep rolling down. They are so irritating I don't use them unless I run out. The old ones are now falling apart and I have switched to Primark! - not as well cut but at least they stay in place.

townie Sat 19-Mar-16 13:18:31

Always Prima Donna from Rigby and Peller for bras.

Parsleywin Sat 19-Mar-16 13:24:11

I'm with you, janeainsworth. Triumph Amourette pants are the most comfortable and best! Been wearing them for years and stock up when on Sale. R + P for bras. Yes, expensive but perfect fit and long lasting, so they work out cheaper in the long run for me. I used to waste money on the high street looking for 'the one' and just ended up with a drawerful of uncomfortable mistakes.

Parsleywin Sat 19-Mar-16 13:25:58

Snap, townie! grin

bonji Sat 19-Mar-16 13:41:47

Until recently have always bought both knickers and bras in M&S. However my bra size is only 34aa (yes, really is that small!) and except for 'first bras' M&S don't seem to make them that small any more. A Google search was made and I found the company Little Women who have a good choice and give very good service. Another failure by M&S to sell what is wanted.

dirgni Sat 19-Mar-16 14:00:53

I don't like under wired bras, I find them uncomfortable as they always seem to dig in somewhere! However I have problems with finding non under wired and have got stuck on M&S although I'm not entirely happy with them.HELPblush

shysal Sat 19-Mar-16 14:22:48

I seem to be in the minority here, preferring underwired bras with full cups. When I have tried non-wired they ride up when I raise my arms, therefore needing frequent adjustment. I have found Goddess Kristen on Ebay for £10.99, but they appear to be old stock so I have bought several before they sell out. They come in pretty pearlized jewel colours like opal blue, pearl, peach, amethyst and ruby, which I match as closely as possible to whatever I am wearing.
Pants are M&S almost always black, occasionally flesh depending on which trousers I am wearing.
Some may find it shocking that I don't wear matching sets!blush

oldie730 Sat 19-Mar-16 15:06:14

Sports bras from M & S, not pretty and only in white or black, but no wiring or padding, wide shoulder straps and so comfortable. Long given up playing sports and only exercise walking my dog, housework, etc. Pants from M & S, Matalan when Sloggi on offer. Must be 50/60 years since I wore matching sets! shock

annodomini Sat 19-Mar-16 15:19:38

I think the last time I wore a matching set was probably when all underwear was white, take it or leave it!
