Teeth whitening

I have. My dentist made a soft plastic mouth guard of my teeth and showed me how to use the whitening gel. I also had several syringes of the gel, used daily for two weeks.
The results were great and I've repeated the process every few months ever since. I found a supplier online to buy more of the same gel. It's quite a bit cheaper than buying from the dentist.
I've had no problems with sensitivity etc just make sure you stick to your dentist's instructions.

Yes I have petra and although expensive, they work really well. The gel you put in the trays which fit over your teeth comes in quite small tubes but you can buy them more cheaply on the internet.

Don't be twitchy - there's no pain involved and the result is really good. I only do mine every couple of months now and that keeps them gleaming.

phoenix, you might not need it now you've stopped smoking! Although I dare say it would take a while for the staining to wear off...

.....then you will have gleaming choppers!

May be safer to let the dentist do the teeth whitening though?

Roses. I thought the Dentist would do it, but the receptionist explained to me that I would only sit there doing what could be done at home whenever I wanted and for how long.
You can have them done in one go by having them lasered (sp) but that costs £1,000. I had that done about 10 years ago when I lived in Bulgaria where Dentistry is cheap compared to here.
Did you know that people go on cheap holidays to Bulgaria to have expensive work done ( expensive in uk)

I've read mixed reviews about this sort of thing, one being whitening strips the enamel from teeth and some have found the effects painful, but do let us know how you get on, I'd love whiter teeth, not glow in the dark type though, but whiter than these

As I say, this is being done through my own Dentist. And, if it goes tits I only live 5 mins from the Dentist. Now I've got a vision of me driving along with this thing in my mouth lol.

Teeth whitening doesn't cost£1,000. More like £500, and cheaper from some other places. Though TBH I'd rather have it done at the dentist. I am waiting for a implant and I think I will get them to do whitening at the same time ( in for a penny in for a pound )

Mine cost £300 at my NHS dentist - obviously this was private work. She took impressions of my top and bottom teeth (you know- the hot plasticine stuff that makes you gag) and sent them away for the "trays" to be made. I went back when they were ready and she showed me how to put them in and take them out. She gave me a pack of four tubes of the gel which you squeeze into the trays and wear overnight for three weeks. She also gave me some sensodyne toothpaste in case of sensitivity - which I didn't have. I had to go back for her to check how the whitening was coming on.I had no problems at all and found the trays quite comfortable to sleep in.

The refill gel tubes are £100 for 4 at the dentist, but as I said previously, they are much cheaper (for the same product) on-line. Mine came from USA.

I am very pleased with the result and just wear the trays overnight for two or three nights every couple of months. My teeth are not startling bright white - just a nice clean, bright ivory colour which is very natural.

I paid about £300 for my tooth whitening. Wore the 'trays' with the gel everyday for 45 minutes for a couple of months. I later did another month as my teeth were not quite white enough. I have always had yellowish teeth and they had gone very brown.

I most emphatically did not want celebrity white teeth. My teeth are now an even whitish colour, nothing anyone would remark on. Unlike before when the colour was very 'old lady'

I too have whitened teeth via my dentist and I am thrilled with the results. I sometimes see photos of myself before I had them done . Go for it.

Does teeth whitening work on all teeth including crowns and partial denture?

I would like whiter teeth but when i asked at a beauty fair (put on at work im not that vain) the lady representing a local dentist offering whitening said caps would need replacingand so would the old fillings on the front of my teeth. That really put me off. Any tips??

Teeth whitening only works on natural teeth, not crowns or bridges etc. This is why I'm getting mine done before I have my implant in about 3 months time.
