summer footwear

Those Skechers look just what I need. I had a similar pair which a friend had brought from the USA, but no longer.
I was walking along the side of the fields and decided to cut across - but the clay soil was wetter than I realised and they were sucked off my feet .
I found one, but the other disappeared among the vegetation. Got home somehow.

blueskies I broke my ankle in 2009 and I also have problems with swelling. Because I had to have surgery as my # was displaced and comminuted I find that some shoes rub against the wounds. Velcro fastenings I find are useless because of swelling. I end up buying Hotter lace ups.

Skechers Go Walks are on offer on Amazon right now. I got mine last week for around £25 and they are just sooooo comfortable.

Coolgran I also have the Clarks Velcro sandals. I've had them for years, they are so comfy but looking a little tatty now, and every year I think I should replace them. Maybe how's the time !

Alea I nearly choaked on my coffee when I read your post,but you may be right as it is school holidays and the children will be needing new shoes to go back to school soon

I usually buy Regatta walking sandals. They are a bit more robust. My DH walks us everywhere when we go out! I likethese. I would buy the pink ones!

I bought a nice pair of Hotter sandals on ebay. They're the first comfortable sandals I've had for a couple of years.

Just got a Hotter brochure in the post ( fab sandals!) and they also do some very supportive cushioned Summer shoes as well,worth having a look.

I liked the look of Sketchers as well - until I looked what was available in a size 9 wide fitting. Black and grey slip-ons . JD williams have a lovely range of shoes in my size. Looks as though it's back there for me!

Doc Martens have a range of canvas-topped summer style boots - plenty of ankle support but some of them have rather a lot of lace-holes!

Also for holidays I pull out the old faithful comfy Clarks Velcro fastening .
Had them for about 10 years, in black and beige, comfy all day, velcro adjustment at the front and at the back of the heel.

I think desert boots might not have much structure/support. Lots of great suggestions here.

I wear Fitflop sandals and lace-up shoes, they have very thick soles that act as shock absorbers. I am prone to turning my ankle since an old ski injury so was happy to find shoes which were supportive.

Although I have EEE feet I can't stand to have my feet enclosed in warm weather. I progress from winter wear to open toed then mules as the weather improves. I buy mine from J. D.Williams.
I realise this doesn't help with your ankle problems blueskies but thought it might help someone.

I bought these Sketchers shoes recently. They both have memory foam in-soles. The coral pair are "stretch fit". I am really looking forward to some good weather as I am longing to wear them.

thank you. lots of good advice re sandals. I am thinking of something that comes up past my ankle for support when walking in hot weather. I have sandals and Hotter sporty shoes. I bought some "rough terrain" sandals in Spain last year but my ankles billowed out over the sides. Indoors I go barefoot!

Should be due for a plimsoll/Shoe Zone post any day now.......

Vionic is a sandal that has a orthoheel technology that helps keep your feet in alignment. They come in med and wide withs.

Would second Reiker sandals. I have 3pairs and live in them in warm weather they are very comfortable. They may not give you enough support though. I also have fat legs and ankles to my dismay.

Keen sandals are really comfy and come in various colours.

Have you looked at Sketchers or Reiker? They have lots of different styles and all are comfy but not frumpy. I wear them all the time and they work for me.

I wear Skechers Go Walk range at all times of the year they are very light but supportive and comfy, some of them are really pretty too and they come in such a different range of styles and colours.
