Madness

I like something new for a special occasion but have agonies deciding as I want to get some wear out of it and if its special then I'm unlikely to as I don't go to many special things. I try to curb the urge by just having one thing new or perhaps some new make up. Don't resist if you can afford not to - enjoy yourself!!

I'm meeting some old friends for lunch. I said to DH that he probably wouldn't understand why I was spending 2 weeks deciding what to wear. His expression said it all Of course the weather is so cold now I shall probably just be digging out some winter woollies!

Buy the new clothes, enjoy any special occasions, and do not feel guilty.

Often most definitely yes, something new feels essential. Sometimes though I feel better in an old favourite that I feel comfortable in. In fact I've been known to buy something new and then on the day not wear it. Oh dear. .

Ah the thrill of something new . One of my lasting memories from childhood is putting a pair of new socks, still with the sticky tab holding them together, next to my pillow so that I'd see them when I woke up. I was ten or eleven, I think. Such a delight!

Ah, the memories of going out Saturday morning to buy something for Saturday night. You had to go in the morning because you had your rollers in ready for Sat night.
Then coming downstairs and my father telling me to put something decent on/ get that muck off your face. So what I did was: go to the nearest telephone box, take the jumper off and put the makeup back on.
Always found his views rather odd as he was the local gangster.

Yes Alea In fact this morning I went to Debenhams and bought a new dress for a 'do' we have coming up next month.Having had a difficult time recently, I felt I deserved it ( that was my excuse anyway.) I do have other dresses that would have done, but, but......

I bought a leather jacket, smart trousers and top a few months ago, for my expected visit to family last week. Then I didn't go (husband was ill.) So I've never worn them.
Maybe stun everyone in the market on Monday.

Roses Don't get me started on the boyfriends. There would often be a time when me and a girlfriend would be walking down the road...... A couple of lads walking behind .... you got the picture? and then one of them would say: oh no, it's xy's daughter.
When I was 34 I met my OH and thought I would take him to my stomping ground (Woolwich) I took him to one of the local pubs, where they still recognised me and proceeded to regale my OH with all the horror/ amusing stories about my father.
Fortunately he wasn't shocked.
There was an upside. He kept us safe.

I guess that none of us can help what our Fathers did/didn't do Petra and at least yours was upfront about it.
May have lost you a few boyfriends though.

I keep putting off buying "nice" clothes until I've lost weight. That will probably happen when I'm in my coffin. But nothing hangs right with all that tum in front.

So I end up going out in the same clothes as I go to work in. Jeans or trousers and a top and blazer.
