Anyone tried this? (frizzy hair related)

We're never happy are we? Like some who've commented above I have fine straight hair that takes ages to get any kind of kink or bend in so we envy your curls and you envy our straight hair. None of us understand the problems the other faces so we'd probably still hate it even if we could all swap

Nanaandgrampy was interested in your post and wondered if you would answer a few questions. I am 68 and stopped colouring my hair nearly 2 years ago so it is now grey/white. I had a bob but it was too much maintenance and any hint of humidity/rain and the style disappeared. I had it cut short but hate it. I would love a straight bob and am trying to decide if this treatment would work. My questions are,
are you a mature lady?
what condition was your hair in before the treatment?
where do you get it done? Do you got to a hairdressing chain ?
Any other advice would be very helpful

I have the same poblem as MammaNand Wilks. Have always longed for curly hair and cant understand why anyone would want to straighten It! I spend hours with a heated hairbrush to try and get a bit of bend in my hair or it hangs straight down and looks awful!

I have a keratin blow dry every four months at my local hairdresser. Best thing I ever did after suffering years of frizz and trying lots of products to tame my hair. I can now go out in damp and hot weather without looking a complete sight. It costs £40 and is worth every penny.

marionk you are so right. When you ask for 'an inch off the bottom', make sure it's not a 'hairdresser's' inch !

Be very careful what you ask for at the salon!!?

I forgot to mention that if I have mine cut short it goes curly. I will never have it cut short as i feel ugly that way.

I've wanted curly hair since I was a child. Tried perms, heated rollers etc, but it didn't last long.
But now, in old age, my hair has gone curly It's still quite thick as well, fingers crossed.

What a relief! Thought the Brazilian hair treatment meant you had both sides of your head depilated with just a strip of foliage left like a lonely crest!

The Brazilian thing is a Keratin based treatment. I have had several consultations with different hairdressers over the years re this and my frizzy, thick hair and decided no in the end. Its expensive and its not permanent, it initially can weigh your hair down and can lose any shine it might have. There are lots of keratin shampoos- I tried the Elvive one for a time but it caused build up which was difficult to wash out even with a product removing shampoo. I have tried everything - as far as I'm concerned although I still use Frizz ease products on hair like mine it doesn't work that well. I do use Extraordinary Oil (which is Argan oil) which works for one blow dry and the next day the frizz is back. So I am now going to let it grow a little longer as the shorter my hair is the frizzier it is and not to wash it every day as I would like to. I am also going to let it curl naturally rather than going for a straight-ish blow dry. I think I should add that as my hair has been coloured for years I think that adds to the frizzy problem. Good luck with you hair - it can drive you mad can't it. If we go abroad to somewhere humid its just a big ballof frizz whatever I do with it.

minimo Frizz ease SERUM works like a dream . Put plenty (more than it says on the bottle ) smooth it into damp hair then dry with a hair dryer and then use your straighteners . Let us know how you get on if you try it .

I've had a Brazilian! I have extremely thick hair which I have cut into a bob. My hairdresser recommended it, I wouldn't dare risk it at home, it involves using chemicals. It's a bit like a 'reverse perm', my hair is smoother, shinier and SO much easier to manage. There are three different levels, I can't remember what they're called, only the Brazilian sticks in my mind for some reason! One is a lighter treatment for gentle relaxing, and the third gives you poker straight hair. It lasts about three months. Claire uses L'Oreal Extenso, which doesn't have the nasty chemicals that some brands have.

Celebrate and love your curls! There is loads online now about living with our curly hair and not straightening it. Conditioning seems to be very important and not using sulphate shampoos. I use with argan oil or Liz Earle hair oil too and it is lovely. Just had my hair cut with lots more layers and this makes it more curly. Summer time is great as it can dry naturally, otherwise I use a diffuser.
As you can see, also accepting my grey hair now (looks much greyer in real life! and no longer have high lights put in.)
When I was a teenager I remember trying to perm my hair straight! Also ironing it through brown paper and selotaping the fringe down while it dried. Trouble was, only had to go out in the rain and ……….. not straight for very long!

I have my hair chemically straightened once a year by my hairdresser. It's very simple , costs me £40. The roots don't seem to get frizzy until about 9/10 months then it's slight but much better than its normal state.

My hair suddenly developed frizz on one side only about 5 years ago and having to straighten it was a nightmare. This treatment works beautifully even when I'm on holiday in high humidity areas. So I can really recommend it.

I'd be wary of using this without any advice from my hairdresser. It must leave some form of residue on your hair in order for it to work.

There are easier ways. Currently using Moroccan Oil as a conditioner.

Wash hair, towel dry, work oil in hair sparingly to the ends. Style and dry as usual. Hair is like silk even though we have muggy weather which makes mine go doolally normally.

Of course there is a lot to be said for straighteners. One of the best things ever invented.

I use GHDs. Also John Frieda 3 day straight spray. Works for my wire wool mop!

Have you tried smoothing a little Argan oil on dry hair? It works for me. I also use it as a conditioner when I shampoo.

Hi minimo I checked out the product on Amazon, it seems very popular and people using it seem happy with it. But was thinking, what happens with new hair growth? The roots would still be frizzy. I use kerastase products which I find very good. Elvive does some great stuff too. hope you don't mind a couple of suggestions
