I have a lovely M&S green sparkly dress but I am afraid to wear in the daytime because I think it would look wrong it's sleeveless so I would have to wear a Tee shirt under it to cover my arms. It's a muted understated sparkle what do you think.

If you would feel totally relaxed and able to forget yourself - wear it, but if you feel uncomfortable and self concious dont

Wearing a tee shirt under it is never gonna work!

I would not wear a T shirt under a dress unless it was designed as a pinafore dress. I would prefer a jacket or Cardigan over a sleeveless dress. But that is MY hang-up - who am I to tell you what to wear? I have a good friend and a DGD who both wear whatever they feel like wearing each day. Lovely clothes but many would say they are not appropriately dressed for the occasion. They would reply that they are appropriately dressed for themselves.

Which is a longwinded way of saying what Whitewave has said above.

What about a shrug/cropped cardi - the type Helen Mirren wears so successfully to cover her upper arms.

shrug

Thanks for your help everyone I will put it on ebay it's right a Tee shirt won't work and I know deep down I am just hoping for a way to keep it and I would probably feel very self conscious in it. I really love the fashion at the moment all those pinnacle dresses ect and gorgeous shoes I have worn my Wallis pinafore dress out and I can't find a replacement at the moment.

How about a floaty cardigan- I tend to put these over most things these days- don't sell it if you love it even if you just wear it at home.
