What are cluster lashes? Is that where they attach them semi permanently? So glue them between your own? If that's the case, and you had an allergic reaction to the glue, you'd have two fat eyes to go on holiday with. If you wanted them, I'd not choose a special occasion for the first go! I had an allergic reaction to hair extension glue once. Spent Christmas with a scabby head and frizzy hair, as my cousin had to remove them all. Not one of my better Christmas times. Stick to the mascara!

I'd love to be brave enough to try them. I never tried them even when I was young. I might give it a whirl one of these days, with my granddaughter's help. She wears them and looks fabulous - but then she is 16!

Yes they are semi permanent. They do a patch test a week before to check your not allergic.

No I don't wear false eyelashes and have never tried them. I do have quite good lashes and there are so many good mascaras around. I like to get it all cleaned off at night and then plenty of Vaseline to keep them in good condition.

I tried false eyelashes when I was young. They looked ridiculous. I don't think I did it right. However - as we get older less is more in the makeup department. I think you've made the right decision not to go with the eyelashes. I am thinking of one older person in particular who used a lot of eye make up - heavy eyeliner, bright eye shadow, very fluttery lashes - and it wasn't at all flattering. It emphasised her age in the wrong way. I champion subtle and discreet make up for the older woman, and good skin care.

My friend gets them done for special occasions and they look very natural and lovely.
When I inquired further I found you can't use eye make up as well because of removing it. I'd rather wear eye shadow and am now trying Rimmel 's mascara with a dye in it.

Just to add, cluster lashes are very natural looking and are nothing like the strip lashes I wore when younger. Clusters simply make your own lashes look fuller.
Still not for me though.

Does anyone know how long they last on average? I'd consider them but I'd have to take antihistamine every day because my eyes get itchy at this time of year and I'd rub the lashes off!

Average of 6 wks I believe.
However, They would ask you about that type of problem and I don't think any decent salon would do them in your situation lizzy but I'm no expert. Only going by what D has said.

Rimmel mascara with a dye in it sounds interesting.

I think they look ridiculous even in young gitls .You can always tell they are false however well done and on an older woman I fear it would be all to obvious
But I admit I am blessed with quite think long black eyelashes even at my advanced age I suppose I might consider if mine were very sparse or maybe after chemo?

These cluster lashes may be o.k. but I saw an older woman with obviously false lashes and couldn't help thinking of Miss Piggy. Had to turn away so she wouldn't see me trying to hide a giggle.

OOh gofor it ! I would love to have eyelashes ....for some reason (may be years of chemo) I now only have very sparse very pale, eyelashses. Sadly I asked about something cosmetic at the beauty parlour but because of the condition of my eyelashes I was told not advisable......even mascara doesn't stay on the bits I have ....whatever type I have used (expensive, cheap, etc etc( always goes into lines under my eyes ....so now I have given up ! Would like what's left dyed but again, was advised against it ......now just have to wear dark glasses !!

I lost mine due to chemo Violette. They grew back but they were all over the place (all going in different directions!), so difficult to get straight with mascara. But I also found when they did grow back, they were very sensitive to makeup anyway. I still only wear it for special occasions (I wouldn't go out without it before I was ill) because my eyes can still get a little sore. I guess in time, perhaps the follicles will sort themselves out.

Oh my goodness. How is this for a coincidence !!
This morning, when I applied my mascara, it looked awful, thick and clumpy. I was really, really miffed as I wiped it all off and started again.
Then just now, I read what Violette and Breeze had written above. You Ladies have REALLY put things into perspective. I now count my blessings.

I bought the Rimmel dye-type mascara, hopefully, as I am very blonde with matching lashes:/ The mascara has not impressed me greatly; it's pretty thin and it runs and streaks. Disappointing, sorry to say.

Here in Ireland we call them eyelash extensions. I've been having them done once a month for the last two years or so. The young lady who does them is from Lithuania and is wonderful. They are so natural, don't look fake at all. She is a bit of an artist and knows what is right for me. I just see it as part of my beauty routine.
