The curse of VPL

I hate VPL. It's obviously not so much of a problem in winter with thicker fabrics and long jumpers etc but in the summer with thinner lighter materials it's a nightmare especially when wearing trousers. Any suggestions? I can't be doing with a thong and I went to M&S and bought their no VPL pants but they are as bad as the normal ones!!

They are called "Comfort Bra's" and come in a lot more styles now.

Good luck DanniRae smile

Thanks gillybob I will look out for the stretchy bras and give them a try - my boobs aren't even that big so should be ok.

There are so many knickers that don't show the panty line.
If they do you need a bigger size of trousers.

When my mum was poorly she couldn't bear the feel of her bra sticking in her DanniRae, but she was always going backwards and forwards to hospital and had quite ample boobs, meaning she couldn't really go bra less. I found some amazing stretchy bras for her that were made from lovely soft tee shirt material with soft cup and a gentle elastic support. She could just pop them on over her head too. Her's were only from George at Asda. Really good value and solved the problem. Maybe you could give something like that a try?

I don't seem to get VPL. I think its because I wear pants that cover the potentially sticky out bits of my bum. I hate those mini pants where the hems rub your hips.
Make sure the seams of your pants don't get squashed by your top clothes.

wot and lizzypopbottle, never heard that expression before, had to google it. Yuk, definitely included in my list of unacceptable sights!

I could never go without knickers BUT I am seriously thinking of going braless because I just can't seem to find a comfortable one. Bought one recently in a well known high street shop after trying it on and thinking aaah this is the one for me. In fact so pleased I bought one in white and one in black. First time I wore the black one it felt amazing for first hour or so and then it began to irritate me like crazy. Off it came, tried again next day with same result. Back to square one............!! Sorry I know this a thread about knickers but I am desperate.

Should be excited

Balini Thu 28-Jul-16 09:41:42

All these knicker less women are getting me exited. Smile. Flowers.

What a fascinating thread to read first thing in the morning! Really cheered me up grin

VPL looks awful. So does white knickers worn under white trousers where you can see everything. Should wear beige or flesh colour. There are knickers made by slogging which are seamless.

Silk French knickers - very glamorous and lovely to wear. Not always the most practical garment though! Silk cami knickers anyone remember them? Not much good under trousers but perfect for wafting around in your silk dressing gown though. With cocktail in hand and leaning on grand piano.

Seams don't hurt whilst going commando, and although those knickerless women amongst us do have to wash clothing more frequently, it's still preferable to wearing uncomfortable undies!
I also sleep naked, have done so since I was a young teenager!
The only time I wear anything other than a smile in bed is in the middle of winter, when I have my pink fluffy bed socks on.....I don't know how my husband can resist mewink

My ignorance, must ask is commando nothing on at all, and please what is VPL I am only guessing by all the remarks. This business of shorteneing words is a mine field, sorry to have to show my ignorance.

In my 20s I had some silk French knickers. They were silk and gorgeous, they fastened with a button on the side waist. As I walked down the stairs of a double decker bus the button came off and they fell round my ankles, I stepped out of them, picked them up and put them in my coat pocket. Sadly I was seen and the tale went round the village.
I think I have lived it down 50 years later.

HootyMcOwlface Wed 27-Jul-16 19:14:20

Oh my, I couldn't imagine going knickerless! Aren't you cut in two by the crotch seam? (Trousers obviously!)

Willow500 Wed 27-Jul-16 19:05:17

I can't imagine going knickerless - for all the female reasons already quoted! I did used to wear thongs but can't do with the cheese cutter feeling any more. I buy M&S no VPL ones but also Sainsbury's which are much cheaper and just as good. Definitely the right size are a must - cut the label out if you're concerned and also longer length tops to cover the tush grin

DaphneBroon Wed 27-Jul-16 18:36:31

All this talk of going knickerless reminds me of a school chum in the 60's who worked in a bakery shop on Saturdays. She sat at the till on a high leather stool and how we all laughed when she told us how one day she had hitched herself up on to the stool in a short skirt and that was when she realised what she had forgotten to put on! grin

Neversaydie Wed 27-Jul-16 18:36:08

I find M and S VPL knickers-high leg briefs- really good.

phoenix Wed 27-Jul-16 18:31:17

1974cookie French knickers are a really good option, but must confess I can't recall seeing cotton ones.

wot Wed 27-Jul-16 18:11:31
