granny23, I am around a 16, so haven't bought anything with those size options for the reason you give. It seems a bit crazy to me to make them that way.

Shysal I see quite a few things I fancy on the Damart web site. My problem is their sizing as I am a sort of size 17 and am worried that 14-16 would be too wee and 18-20 too big. Can you advise if their sizes are 'generous' or not?

There are a few on here. I noticed they sell coatigans, not a word I have come across before. I hope you find something to suit.

I got a long black cardi with buttons from Primark. It's fine. Only £4,50. They had other colours too.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Will have a look. I am sure I will be able to find something suitable now.
Thanks again.

Yesterday I saw in Edinburgh Woollen Mill, some long(ish), buttoned cardigans.

I also always have a couple of kilt pins, about 50p in a haberdasher.

I use a kilt pin to fasten edge to edge cardigans. It works as it's chunky and cheap to buy!

When I was last looking for a cardigan they all had very small buttons which my achey thumbs could not manage.

I saw a few very nice cardigans in White Stuff and Hobbs yesterday.

Google boyfriend cardigans.

I am wearing a Woolovers cardigan as I type. Grey, long, 100% wool and has buttons. I bought 3 in the sales last year.

Have a look on line I am sure that there will be something that you fancy.

My only problem with Woolovers is that now that they have my email and home address I am inundated with brochures etc.

ps just realised that's in french/ euros. There's an english website :

Woolovers has a few. Here's one:

I've had lots of things from them and they're good quality. Sizing is generous.

I have been looking, without much success for a longer length(about thigh length) cardigan that has BUTTONS!!! Or even a zip.
Not too much to ask, or so I thought. But no, they all seem to be 'edge to edge' that do not fasten. Or the awful dreaded 'waterfall' design, which never looks good on me.
I am a size 12/14 and fairly tall, so I like to cover my rear.
With autumn now here, I thought the shops would be full of lovely knitwear.
Ah well. Will have to keep looking.
