I wish I'd known that before DH scattered them with abandon all over our last garden! Had absolutely no effect whatsoever. We have a similar problem here. I cleared a strawberry bed earlier this year which I am now leaving fallow. The cats thought this was an open invitation for them to use it as a toilet. DH was cutting down some pyracantha so I scattered some of the branches on the offending area and it seems to be doing the job, but I doubt it'll stop them going somewhere else. They aren't fussy.

but its not fair when they don't dirty in their own yard and use mine. I have to go on a poop scoop before the children can play in the garden. I mean surely a good cat owner would teach it to use a litter tray?
