Goldfish heels

I know they never actually took off, and I only ever saw them in the newspaper, but does anyone else remember those shoes with goldfish swimming in the heels? The poor things must have been terribly constricted in those tiny spaces.

They were to start with, but I think animal welfare people stepped in, and artificial ones were then used.

Somehow (whew!) these passed me by. But I did always feel there was something creepy about those "nibbling fish" pedicure bars. Animal abuse, surely????
