what will go with navy suede ankle boots?

Today I exchanged a top that didn't suit for a pair of navy ankle boots.

I had spotted a pair of burgundy boots but when got to the counter I realised the tag was wrong and they only had navy in the correct size.
I made a hasty decision to take them as I had left DH in car with my two toddler DGS.

But now I'm wondering nice as they are (soft suede with gold trim around heel) what do I wear them with?

Not suitable with black trousers.
Gold trim a bit much with jeans
Would look odd with brown ( I don't have any brown trousers)
So all I can think of is grey.

I have wore navy shoes in the past.
They were easier to match with skirts
But I only wear ankle boots with jeans or trousers.

Ankle boots look fabulous with a skirt too Cherrytree59 Have you tried wearing them with thicker tights?

Navy trousers, or skirt. Lots of people seem to wear ankle boots with skirts now. Navy is so useful, less formal than black but so many lovely colours go with it.

I always have basis of black, navy and brown trousers and like shoes to match, for each colour, I always prefer in winter a shoe or boot that covers all your foot.

I would have suggested grey. I think any shade would work well.
Terracotta in the right shade would work too or beige/taupe

I would wear them with jeans, they sound fab. What about jeggins and a longish top?

tiredoldwoman Mon 12-Dec-16 05:07:00

Blue or winter white jeans ?

chelseababy Mon 12-Dec-16 05:37:50

Could you exchange them too when you are not in a rush?

NanKate Mon 12-Dec-16 07:15:10

I wish they were mine Cherry I bet you look fab in them.

I wear a lot of dove grey with bright scarves and charity shop costume jewellery. I think I look a bobbydazzler but other folks might think I look a silly old sausage grin

You can wear navy with black these days.
In fact you can wear just about anything.
Definitely you could wear them with jeans.

suzied Mon 12-Dec-16 07:29:27

Definitely jeans and try black opaque tights and a sweater dress. You can get opaque tights in navy as well if you like to match.

My feet gringrin

Rinouchka Mon 12-Dec-16 08:24:03

Envious. Wear them with grey, navy...but jeans also OK. I have lovely long sleeved heavy jersey navy wrap around dress they would go very well with...or i could send you the dress as I have never worn it( one of my Charity shops buys). PM me if you would like it. Size S.

Anything goes these days , Jeans , navy trousers , thick navy tights and a knee length skirt , knitted dress in any colour . No one matches their clothes any more , especially not matching handbags and shoes !!

I wouldn't worry too much about "matching". Apart from brown, they'd go with pretty much anything. If I were a dress kinda person, I'd wear with a short dress with thick tights and maybe a leather jacket over.

Or jeans/ leggings tucked in, with a long cardi maybe. Loads of ideas on pinterest.

What do you suggest for nude patent flat lace ups? Exactly my size and fitting, unworn and £10 in charity shop. Couldn't resist!
I have a scarf which has exactly the colour but other than all black with the scarf I'm looking for inspiration.
Wary of skinny jeans or leggings as I think my feet would look huge!

gettingonabit Mon 12-Dec-16 09:36:08

I love laceups. I wear mine with skinnies or j/leggings but they'd look great with a skirt, or dress. I think the overall look has to be quirky/preppy though. I'd go for a tunic-y dress, I think, with contrasting thick tights. Or something like this (sorry meant to attach link but basically tapered trousers with shirt and cardi over).

Again, Pinterest is your friend).

Nothing wrong with wearing them with black trousers Cherry in fact any colour jeans/trousers would look fine, they sound lovely ( we all want some now!)

DanniRae Mon 12-Dec-16 10:00:48

The burgundy boots sound great - can't you return them and see if they've now got the burgundy ones in your size?

JackyB Mon 12-Dec-16 11:19:17

Definitely jeans with the blue ankle boots. Preferanbly quite new, not washed-out, dark blue demin, fairly skinny fit.

Do take care of the suede, though.

As for nude patent flat lace ups. A Chanel suit? Or Marlene trousers in a contrasting dark colour. Definitely brightly coloured accessories. Could you put some contrasting laces in them, give them a Bertie Wooster look?

mcem Mon 12-Dec-16 12:03:37

Like the contrast laces idea thanks.
I always wear lace ups - usually brogue or patent - with trousers because I think my feet look huge (even more so because of skinny ankles) so haven't tried with skirts or dresses. When I get back from DD's later I'll do some experimenting.

Hi thanks all.
I have decided to keep the navy boots
I have so far wore them with grey trousers and navy jacket
I will try with black jeans.
I so wish I had the confidence to wear with dress/ skirt.
I am still on the look out for some burgundy boots.

My ultimate choice in foot wear would be ballet pumps and deck shoes but due to ankle problem can wear neithersad

Should be grateful that I've got feet to wear footwear!

Navy opaque tights with a wool dress. That's exactly what I am wearing to lunches etc with a jazzy brooch and earrings.

Jayanna9040 Sat 17-Dec-16 15:53:13

Joseph Seibel do burgundy ankle boots. They fit my enormous feet but I'm sure they do small ones too. I'd wear the navy boots with tan coloured jeans or cerise if you dare!

TriciaF Sat 17-Dec-16 19:08:29

Don't forget to sing when you're wearing them 'Keep off my blue suede shoes!'
Sorry - couldn't resist!

glammanana Sat 17-Dec-16 20:34:00

Cherrytree Do you have a pair of rust coloured skinny jeans they would look fab with navy suede and don't think the gold trim won't go with jeans they will go perfectly and look really on trend (as my DD likes to tell me)
