What's the deal with 'threading' and facial hair?

Ah got it, so it's probably useful when/if I ever get more than just a couple of stragglers, thanks for comments everyone. I was mortified tho' as one was about an inch long on the middle of my cheek before I noticed it and I'm sure my 'friend' at work must have noticed it but said nothing. Would you tell someone? Can't say I definitely would to a work friend - that's someone I meet with for a coffee but only at our corporate hq not out of work.

I have my eyebrows and tash waxed every three weeks £9, I tried threading and found it painful, waxing is quicker.

It cost me £3 to have my eyebrows done last week. Not much.

My GD had her eyebrows done in Superdrug and they looked very good. I didn't ask how much it was.

I wouldn't have it done in the shopping centre ..too public. I have it done locally( London ) and find it good value. I would recommend it. Not put off by the mouth thing, it's obviously tradional, and the lady I go to doesn't do that.

D is a qualified beauty therapist, she uses strong cotton for threading. Cheaper than the "proper" stuff. She does her own eyebrows but won't do her tash .
I need a hair transplant to actually give me some eyebrows !

Ah I see. I agree that's not extortionate. It's far more expensive at the shopping centre and all done in public.

When I've seen it done the lady wipes the thread in her mouth....doesn't this put you off?

I have my eyebrows and upper lip threaded fairly regularly by a middle eastern lady at a local salon. The shaping of the eyebrows is something I couldn't do myself. I pay £8 for this, so it's not extortionate. It hurts less than plucking.

Seems like an expensive way of plucking from what I can see when I walk past the booth in our local shopping centre.

I tried having my eyebrows threaded, uncomfortable but not painful. Since then though my eyebrows have started growing outwards, not sure if this was a result of the threading or just age.
It started in India I think, special thread is used and strands twisted which catch the hairs and pull them put. Not as easy as it sounds.

A lot of people who have lots of facial hair use threading to remove it. Including eyebrows, chin and sideburns I've never tried it but it is supposed to be quick and painless once you get used to it. I just pluck out the stray chin hair though.
