Hi
I know this is an old post.
Did you ever find any foundation like the Clinique supermoist, I have tried so many and still can not get one as good as that.

I have to say I wouldn't get an expert I would just make sure I had practiced it myself a few times before the day, don't make it too complicated. You want to look and feel comfortable and like yourself. The bridal make ups I have seen look rather overdone. The assistants on the good make up counters are very helpful and give you lots if samples - a much cheaper and better option. Good Luck.

Just a short question because my big day is coming so I know The makeup is really important on the Big day and I think, not I'm the only one who can't be bothered to apply a bridal makeup. What do you think about the bridalmakeup, I keep reading reviews about it but can't make up my mind. I saw this casual makeup guide on reddit and wanted to post it here because I want to read something better: lilybeautyshop.com/blogs/lily-blog/bridal-makeup
I would love an opinion on a makeup expert I Just want to know If I really do need all the bells and whistles?

Every one of these except for look fabulous forever is tested on animals or owned by a company that tests on animals. Is it worth so much animal suffering for stuff that quite frankly will never make us old ladies look anything other than what we are?

If they ever discontinue Astral I will dry out and blow away!

I use Clinique moisture surge tinted moisturiser. It gives a more natural looking cover than most other foundations. I did try the Even Better Glow foundation. I was given a 10 day trial pot at the Clinique counter. Although it gave excellent coverage it felt too "heavy" on my skin, I felt it emphasised my wrinkles ☹️

PS: not ALL moisturisers go well under foundation! I was using the lovely pinky one that Jane Fonda advertises and my foundation did not "sit" well. I was advised to change to a Boots (Lift & Luminate) and have no more problems. I also use a Boots serum morning and night.

eddiecat78: I have been using LFF both skin primer and base for over a year now. You can ask for £1 amples of their three base colours if not sure. My experience is that by using one squirt of primer with one squirt of base (which is what LFF recommend), and applying with a brush, my products have lasted me for up to a year. They give a flawless finish that lasts all day, so no need to touch up if going out for the evening. I use all their products now and the only one that needs any touching up is the lipstick, even with the lip primer. However, I no longer get any "bleeding" of the colour Beyond my lips.

It's so annoying when they discontinue a product that you really love. I'm afraid it's trial and error finding something to replace it - and that makes it quite expensive.

I wish that all cosmetic companies produced small samples of their products to purchase - but perhaps they don't really care if you discard something because it doesn't suit you. After all, you've already paid for it.

I have found that even when a new product is marketed as being superior to the one it replaces, it doesn't necessarily turn out that way.

Hey there! I am a consultant at Clinique cosmetics at the Dillard’s of Rivergate Mall. I am so sorry that your foundation was discontinued! The reason it was discontinued is because we came out with our new Even Better Glow foundation! I have eczema, so I have terribly dry skin. I use our Even Better Glow and it gives a beautiful finish. I hope this helps! smile

Unfortunately Ebay doesn`t have the colour I am looking for - and I don`t think I could bring myself to pay those prices! I`ve now discovered that there is a link on the Clinique website where you can ask about alternatives to discontinued products so I`ve emailed that and am waiting for a reply

I have just started using Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus both Day and night ones and the difference in just a couple of weeks is fantastic - begone dry lacklustre skin!!!

There is some on Ebay, obviously old stock, but probably last for years. I hope you find something to suit.

I have used Estée Lauder (parent company of Clinique) for many, many years and have found that when they discontinue a product there is usually a replacement which is just as good if not better. Pick a quiet time and talk to the consultant and ask for a sample. Their little pot of sample lasts several days.

thanks everyone - I think I will have to brave Debenhams - sadly I live out in the sticks and we don`t have John Lewis.
I have used some of the Lookfabulousforever makeup - aimed at ladies of a certain age - and I like it but haven`t tried the foundation yet. Their website is worth a visit as they feature older ladies and have lots of helpful videos (I think they only sell online)

I am an Estée Lauder fan too. I also wear Max Factor foundation for a change.

Did you know that they will put a small amount of foundation in a pot for you to try at home before purchasing ?

I am thinking of going back to Cyclax, my Mother used their moisturuser all her life and had a lovely completion at 100. I used Cyclax for years and only changed to Clinique when it became difficult to source, but in these days of on line shopping it is easy to order once again.

Liz Earle skin tint is very nice and light and my favourite. Today the therapist who "did" me recommended mixing in a little of their foundation (same shade) if I wanted a little more coverage e.g.for going out. Otherwise, I just use it on its own every day. Bobbi Brown also do a tinted moisturiser which is very moisturising (well I suppose it would be!)

annsixty Wed 08-Feb-17 20:39:06

The Clinique "consultant" in our local JL is a "very nice young man" am I allowed to say more ? He is very thorough and will test and try until you are happy. Expensive but it lasts as I only use it on special outings, which are few and far between. I use their tinted moisturizer. Anything else is too heavy for an aging skin.

Can't go wrong with Estée Lauder I know that they look intimidating but take it from this plain Jane with the added problem of roseac they are really helpful. They'll apply it for you then you can shop or go home and see if it suits. Go on a quiet weekday when they won't be busy and you may not feel so self conscious. Go for it you'll be fine

Jalima Wed 08-Feb-17 19:50:08

I see that Bobbi Brown does a moisture rich foundation - John Lewis have it.

The assistants on the Clinique and Clarins counters in our local JL are always lovely (so lovely I end up spending more than I should!).

I have found Clarins foundation is not as dry as Clinique but Clinique seems to suit my skin better.

Chewbacca Wed 08-Feb-17 19:16:28

I feel your pain Eddie, i also havevery dry skin and I loved Clinique's Moisture On Call but the they discontinued that a while ago too. I'm using Elemis Marine Cream now and that's a good substitute. QVC have regular Elemis events and their prices are a bit cheaper too. Think you'll have to pay a visit to a beauty counter to try some to see if it suits you're skin type though, sorry. sad

eddiecat78 Wed 08-Feb-17 19:01:25

I don`t wear makeup often but I found that the Clinique Supermoisture foundation suited my dry skin very well - and now I realise they have discontinued it - and I`ve looked on the Clinique site but can`t decide what is the best alternative. Any ideas? Please don`t tell me to go and ask in Debenhams - those ultra-glam assistants intimidate me!
P.S. there`s a degree of urgency here - daughter gets married soon!
